Thanks Stone 7, now who should I listen to.... someone who has never even driven a Fiat in their life and says they are !!!!!! (if its a fact, can you provide evidence...) or the word of about 5 people (all Fiat owners) who have posted on here how they love their cars....
Some people just post b*ll*cks on here cos they've got nothing better to do....0 -
Nobody is required to justify their comments
True, but this is a message board for helping people and posting "Fiat are !!!!!!" having never driven / owned / probably even seen one is not helpful...
Stone7 is right, this is a money saving site and telling people to but BMW over a Fiat is not moneysaving...0 -

I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a BMW over a Fiat. I would recommend buying a British Rail season ticket over a Fiat and spending the remainder on ale and ladies with loose morals. At least this will get you near where you want to be with a smile on your face. Something you don't get when you buy a Fiat.
Alternatively, work out your budget, then spend your entire budget on a German or Jap car. I could even be tempted to advise you to take the £1,000 Fiat voucher down to a reputable dealer (i.e. Toyota, Nissan, VW) to use as a bargaining tool.0 -
Hi
I do own a Fiat and I would never consider buying one again, I have outlined some of the reasons below. Do your research and look at user surveys, the latest JD Power Survey is yet again not very flattering Fiat and it's sister company Alfa Romeo both came near bottom. The Stilo appeared in a Richard Hammond book of cars he would never consider buying, sadly everything he said is, in my experience, true. They do offer a very high level of equipment but the build quality is poor and in my experience so is the service.
Some of the faults we have experienced ( Car is around 4 years old with a full service history):- Numerous electrical failures, spurious airbag warning lights, engine failure etc, not fatal but very annoying.
- Irratic Idle speed.
- Front tyres need replacing every 14,000 miles
- Air conditioning that has been fixed 3 times by a Fiat dealer and still does not work.
- Failed Tailgate struts, tailgate does not open as it should.
- New radiator, not due to stone damage just poor manufacture.
- 4 new engine coils (they have one per cylinder)
- New radio cassette player, radio failed completely, (these are around £300 fitted by a Fiat dealer that is without a CD player)
- New exhaust system.
- The same headlamp bulb has gone 3 times.
Remember it is your hard earned money so do your research.

Thanks sennen, but I'm afraid Morph will just label your post as 70's propoganda and claim that your view counts for nothing as your Fiat wasn't Pearlescent White and as such has no validation.0 -

The stilo is an awful, awful car but not all new fiats are like the Stilo's. Its a bit unfair to judge on one car! And to balance your argument James May from Topgear (think that’s his name - the old one!) owns and loves a fiat panda. Whoever said fiats are 'sheite' where is the proof and how can you generalise so easily? Some fiats are crap other are brilliant, the same story goes for any car manufacturer. I stated that it was a fact that they had dramatically improved over the past few years and I can back up my claim easily. I'm also speaking from experience. The only thing I am wiling to agree with is that the service from the dealers is not up to scratch compared to others. Wouldn't surprise me if you were driving around in a new Vauxhall corsa for example thinking how much better they were than the grande punto, not realising its pretty much the same car underneath and Vauxhall use Fiat engines as stated earlier in the thread. The fiat bashers still won’t say what they are driving around in, I’m intrigued for one

For real money saving car buying buy second hand at the lowest end of the market, get a haynes manual and try do as much as you can yourself, oil change, coolant renew and flush etc. Very rewarding and good value for money. I have 94 Skoda Favorit and people are unwilling to buy them. You can easily pick up a low mileage one for under £500. Apart from the sun roof leaking (duct taped up) and some minor niggles with electrical problems, lights not working when turned on (resolved by tapping the fusebox), and the radiator cooling fan mysteriously acting up once, I have had no problems. Started first time every time.
I was given the car for nothing and can gleam at all the VW and OOOO audi logos under my bonnet and laugh at snobs who pay over the odds to get a car with many of the same bits.
Porsche designed the engine-mount solution for the Favorit and 42 patents were registered in the development of the Favorit. The Favorit also won outright in the 94 World Rally Championship in the 2 litre category but was only a 1.3. The well used Skoda 1.3 engine is also arguably more reliable than any of VAG's offerings, and it is even used today in a modified form in the new 1.4 fabia. In fact the Favorit is the car that impressed VAG so much they bought Skoda in the early 90's.
People will always take digs at cars like Skoda and Fiat, but they'll probably drive Vauxhalls and the like which as mrme above points out aren't exactly any different and aren't really any better or worse. It's just all snobbery, and a look at me here's my 07 plate x badged car that I paid more money for than you paid for your car, and yes thanks I'll gloat lots.0 -
I bought a seicento new when I lived in London, had it for 5 years, did 55,000 miles (around town and trips oop north) only ever had to replace tyres, part exhaust and the radiator when a suicide pheasant stuck its head through it. I guess it can be the luck of the draw...You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...0
