the same way you did it when you installed it initially

login to router admin screen (see further up the thread)
    wireless settings
choose a security option, eg wpa2-psk
    enter a password (network key)
    apply
Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand

There is no proxy checked yesterday, it's not on smartphone, only noticed it on this laptop in ie when I was doing my what's on comps and when I turned on old laptop. Isp is virgin. Going to leave it for tonight. . Thank you for your help and patience and everyone else . .See what happens tomorrow.

It is running faster and smoother due to scans I guess.
  • Lot happened since my last post , unexpected visitors here.
I noticed you "had an email from my bank, but did click on anything" how did you open it? it from a browser ?

What was showing greek the phone , your pc, son's pc or all of them?

Also don't use system restore (I know it's not working) but that could remove the work you did with the scans.

I also noted that chrome wouldn't open I would totally uninstall it for now. I guess you won't read this til tomorrow, but I will try and check back then.

Still seems to be greek ads on sites like What's on comps, the Daily mail....google play store.but not on smartphone that seems to be ok now. Did notice that my Ethernet connection is still called the old name it had but the wifi connection has the new name? Tried taking he Ethernet cable out, had it in since yesterday, not when it 1st started to happen but seems to make no difference. Chrome is now working, though Avast removed an add on, I think ( it did open yesterday but only by right clicking on it) Not all ads are in greek, only some. Will be on later.

Evening, hope you enjoyed work , much better than 'pooter probs.

I am not sure that we have got to the bottom of your problems yet, I will post further shortly, but for the browsers I would use adblock plus on all of the browsers that you use look here. https://adblockplus.org/

    Resetting browsers -

    Firefox here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems

    Chrome https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214?hl=en-GB
    IE http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/internet-explorer/reset-ie-settings
