Would the receipt be the bit of paper you get in the box with the product when it's delivered?

I don't think I've ever had an online order (barring from eBay) never include one.
  • The only paperwork that came with the product was certainly not an invoice or receipt. From memory it was a delivery note. I had every intention of claiming the cashback when I bought the tablet, so I made sure that I kept my eyes out for anything that looked like a proof of purchase like an invoice or receipt when the product arrived. When I saw that it didn't come with an invoice or receipt I presumed that the Currys email must be what the Samsung cashback people would need.

The first post on this thread by Frannybobs, mentions this delivery note calling it the delivery packing slip.

Frannybobs also mentions that they provided all evidence that they could think of with no mention of an invoice or receipt that came with the product so I can only assume that online purchases from Currys don't ship with invoices or receipts, very annoyingly. No doubt this would make claiming on the warranty difficult too. Perhaps everyone should call Currys asking for a copy of the receipt to be posted to them in case they have to use the warranty later.

Samsung have actually come back to him with the following:

"What we need is the sales receipt/invoice.

If Currys/PC World have not provided you with this it can be acquired by contacting their customer support team who will be happy to send you a copy. Once we have this document we will be able to validate your cashback claim."

The problems with online ordering I guess - you don't get that after the supply - only the order confirmation and delivery note. Hopefully he can get that info today or tomorrow and it should then go through.

Thanks for the advice on here - I'll come back and update the outcome

If i remember correctly, they need the vat invoice/receipt. A receipt may not necessarily be a vat receipt. Some retailers may give them automatically but others you may need to request them.

  • I called Currys today on this number: 0344 5610 0000
Then for their phone menus, I pressed:

I asked for a VAT receipt. They found my details and said they would email the receipt. It arrived a couple of minutes later as a pdf attachment to an email with a subject of:

I've sent the receipt to the Samsung cashback people. I'll let you know what they say once they get back to me.

  • Hi all,

They accepted the Currys VAT receipt pdf and they have approved my claim. I got this email today:

Good to know, shame Samsung don't accept the Invoice that Currys sends and you need to get in contact with Currys to get a style of receipt they do accept.

But good news in the end.
  • Yes.

It was good that I could request the VAT receipt over the phone so easily, that I could get the VAT receipt by email so quickly, and that the cashback people accepted the pdf VAT receipt.

I wish Currys would include the VAT receipt with the product though. That may well be needed for warranty claims should they arise as well as be needed for this cashback scheme.

At least this post is here now and hopefully people will see it and know how to get what the cashback people want in the quickest possible way.

    Cheers,

    Dave
  • Having the same problem but with John Lewis. I bought my tablet during the Black Friday deals. John Lewis failed to provide me with an actual receipt. I have delivery note, order confirmation, warranty order receipt. Submitted all of theses on Samsung cash back website but they are saying they are insufficient. Iv'e emailed john Lewis as it was an online purchase but have a feeling I'm going to be let down. £50 for them is nothing but for me, its a huge difference.
  • Does this not work?

How do I get a VAT receipt?
To obtain a VAT receipt online, sign into your account, click into 'My John Lewis' select the relevant order and then click on the VAT receipt link. Please note that this link can take up to 24 hours to appear from placing your order.

If you do not have an online account with us, go to order look up fill out the order number, your surname and billing postcode and view your order. You can obtain your VAT receipt through the link on the right hand side.
  • Just checked my bank account and they haven't paid me yet. On 23/01/15 they said I would get paid within 28 days. So far it's been 19 days.
