We need to do the house up and are desperate for a new kitchen unfortunately this is going to cost a huge amount. When we went to view the house the estate agent warned us the kitchen wasn't useable, that was 12 years ago and we still have that kitchen. I enjoy cooking but my kitchen is utterly depressing. No flooring, slugs are regular visitors, when it rains was comes in under the door and its not insulated so is freezing all year round. The cupboards are a mish mash and the worktops dont match. The drawers are falling apart as it the cheapest quality kitchen availble. We will need new windows on top of this. Dh can fit the kitchen to reduce costs but it will still be astronomical. This we are planning to save for and I hoping it won't take decades!
I could almost have written this post myself. We have been in our house nearly 13 years and still have the ancient kitchen that was in it when we bought it. We bought a cottage that needed lots of work done but was in our budget and had the room we needed. Then it became a case of if we had the money to do stuff we didn't have the time, then when I was made redundant we had the time but no money. We are starting to get things done slowly but the kitchen being the biggest project will still probably be the last. And my DH is no DIYer so it certainly won't be fitted by him. It took three years for him to replaster and decorate the livingroom but it does look good now.
You have done really well so far. Subscribing to see how the interview pans out. Goodluck. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

That's exactly like us! If we have the money we don't have the time and if we have the time we don't have the money and any money we have is spent on covering the bills.
I can get a bit grumpy when I listen to others moaning that they want their ohs to decorate for the third time in 5 years and their houses are beautifully finished with sinks and running hot water :rotfl:LBM 2009 (first attempts started 2007) 2nd LBM 2021 3rd LBM 2025

I got the job :j I'm nervous its not something I've ever considered doing and I'm apprehensive but my team should be small and they are a good bunch. Also I'm having plenty of training so should be OK I hope
Main thing is I have a job at least as a number of others have not been so lucky and its was tough today
I've been slacking on my diary as work has been exhausting me.
Phoned mortgage company and balance is a little higher than I'd estimated not massively and I will get the figure in the post as I forgot to write it down but not great newsDh has requested bits from the accountant so fingers crossed we can go to the bank for a new mortgage. Asked our mortgage company but they only offered the rate we are on 4.5% variable
Shopping budget is looking good.
My children are however trying to bleed me dry and I'm trying to subtlety encourage dh to lose a few pounds. Nothing major but don't fancy paying out for a new wardrobe as his waistbands are getting tight plus he's a dustbin a very expensive dustbin :rotfl:
Oh we got a parking ticket  we've lived here 10+years and no one has ever got a ticket we park there and bam wardens decide there's a problem :mad:LBM 2009 (first attempts started 2007) 2nd LBM 2021 3rd LBM 2025

Thanks for the congrats
Yes the parking ticket  its the kind of place everyone one parks in and doesn't affect anyone but because some fool started parking there in a haphazard manner it meant pedestrians had to walk in the road  someone complained so the sent a warden out but of course he wasn't parked there us and 2 others were (all out of the way) yet he's back there today and even though there is plenty of space he has stilled parked across the pavement at an angle that implies he just dumped it and we've had to walk in the road.
So after that rant :rotfl: we deserve the parking ticket as legally we shouldn't be parked there but they've ignored it for the last 10 years because everyone has been considerate and kept the pavement fully clear until nowLBM 2009 (first attempts started 2007) 2nd LBM 2021 3rd LBM 2025
