Could the other bid be a phantom bid.

Go out view some more properties, you may find something nicer. Don't be surprised if the estate agent comes back saying the vendor has chosen your bid, with some BS reason.

    Ooh that sounds hopeful!
Are there any other houses you can arrange to view with the same agent, so they know you're looking elsewhere?

That's what I am thinking also, but I could be completely wrong and misreading him. Either way if they are genuine and the bid is going up more they can have it. Not going to stretch myself wafter thin!

We are viewing 2 more with the same agent and 2 with another agent.

Agent rang a few minutes ago to say the vendor is going to go with the other price. I said we were out as its not demonstrating good value anymore...

There was a bit of a pause and he said "ok, do you want to be kept advised if it falls through?" I said yeah we are still interested in the house but not at the price its becoming.

The next 7 days will be telling!
  • Life is full of disappointments but it's not the end of the World. I would try to put your business through a different agent. It may be months before a 'sale falls through' usually if the buyer gets cold feet, hasn't got the money or the property survey is revealing.

Get on with your search for a different place. You may be surprised at what comes up.
