It would appear that I'm unable to post links to images due to being a new user. Anyway, there's 4 wires / leads coming from the meter - 2 of them to a black box within the meter housing box and two grey leads presumably going into the house. The CU doesn't seem to have any external wiring that i can see.
  • Hi,

you should be able to post a pic using photobucket or Tinypic, then use the wee postcard icon.

I think you need to investigate that black box. Are all your electrics working after you switch off at the CU?

Hi - it still won't allow me to post even with the postcard icon - just says that i'm a new poster and would-be spammer..

I uploaded them to imageshack - they're there - but forum rules appear not to allow access..

Electrics did not work throughout the house when all switches in the CU were switched to the off position.
  • Hi,

if you put the pic links up with gaps/dashes somebody will post them for you.

Ok, so we're back to that black box then. If there is no main switch on it then I can only assume some sort of phase correction device.

Was there a previous occupier or have you occupied the property from new?

A closer look at that black box might be useful.

I'm beginning to think you might need a professional in to remove the main fuse and disconnect that box
