I ended up popping into farmf**ds today and blew the nsd. I only wanted yoghurt a but came out with packed lunch stuff for the week, cereal and a couple of pizzas for an easy nights tea! Total came to £21.93 but I'm impressed by how much less I paid for the stuff than I would have if I'd got it all in tesco tomorrow. I've updated my signature.

NSD for me today :) We had sausage and mash for dinner. Sometimes you can't beat the old favorites (especially when it earns a NSD :D)

Our June grocery challenge starts on Saturday here; we are looking at moving house in the next few months now which means selling my lovely American style fridge freezer as it won't fit any where in the new house! So I need to start making sure we are running the freezer contents down.

That in mind please can I be put down for £100
During our June Grocery Challenge month we are away for 5 days at our caravan, and bf is away 15th-21st. The caravan trip is our holiday but will be catered out of my budget as we try to cook on an evening rather than order in (not many places to eat out if it's not fish and chips).

I'm trying to use up as much stuff from the kitchen/cupboards as possible as that way I can have a fresh start at the new house. Some stuff I don't mind keeping (rice/pasta/sachets etc) but stuff like flour and fresh things I will try and get cleared up.

June will be a challenge but I could do with reigning in a bit anyway
    Me too lush lifesaver!

I have done a three week meal plan using up freezer supplies and trying to have hardly any food when we move. It's a good opportunity to start afresh and have been trying to use up things like flour and baking supplies. My favourite recipes at the moment are twinks buscuits, flapjacks (have three bottles of golden syrup!), coffee and walnut lof (I had 4 packets of walnuts n the cupboard). I detest coffee so made two at the same time for both sets of grandparents. I tried a tiny little bit and it was so mild it just tasted like walnut cake and the kids loved it too! Might make another one this week!) and delias fruit loaf (using up mixed fruit, mixed peel and walnuts!!)

Planning to do a Victoria sponge this week because hubby keeps going on about it!

I have powdered milk in my baking cupboard that I objviously bought for a recipe but have no idea what to make with it!! Any ideas?

  • Two days in.... Yesterday I spent £7.07 in supermarket for bits and bobs for the week. Today I have not spent anything, but it looks like OH has gone to buy stuff, so I have to go find the receipt to find how much.

Budget to end of today = £16.32
Spends to end of today = £21.60

That's over 10% of what I'm aiming to keep to for the month, and I've still got vouchers to use in A!di from last weeks paper (got 2 copies for the cheese and fish, plus picking up swimming pants and pureed fruit for DD to use with GD4 which I'll get the money back for). Still need at least another half-dozen ready meals for DS1 (minimum of £12), and I also need to reserve just over £12 for DS1's milk. I think I need to do some creative meal-planning based on what I've got left from my shopping trips in the first 5 months of the year which should also free up some freezer space ;)

Most of my spend to date (£19.70) was actually done on Sunday, but I've logged it against my June budget as it was only done then so I could use a £3 off £20 spend voucher (expired Sunday). Don't seem to have got a lot for that though - 3 ready meals (for DS1 to take to work), a pizza (for DS1, already have 2 for me in the freezer), a pack of 3 chicken portions (to use a week on Saturday when DS1 isn't at work and OH is over), plus salad, some Leerd@mmer cheese (to try as I've just discovered it's lactose free) and 3 packs of value biscuits (to tip me over the £20 as the store announced it was closing).

The rest of the spend was some wholemeal rolls and 6 pints of milk from A!di yesterday.

Hi everyone, have just done my internet shop just hoping we are back from holiday in time . Have spent 69.93 plus £1 delivery, this is food only but is much less than normal! I believe mr Dobs has £40 of mr m vouchers so if we get really stuck can use them but am going to try to save them up as I don't think they have an expiry
