Hello all
Zippy please could you put me down for £250 this month, its OH's birthday as well as fathers day. Planning on having £50 for family members saying "i'm skint", hopefully this won't happen.
Already spent £5.24 in aSda on pizza, bread and stuff. Normally make our own but just been in agony.
I have found aSda's own brand basic 12" Pizza Margarita pizza to be quite good value. They fresh, 12" and two margeritas in the same pack for £2. My joints were on absolute agony so we got home and added ham and mushrooms, our own takeaway for less than £3.
Unfortunately i do have to go shopping, prob more bread and milk. Kids are complaining they're only rice pops. So think i better get my backside in gear and plan breakfasts properly. Trying to lose weight so using the old idea of "breakfast like a king, supper like a pauper"
Have about 52 eggs so should start using them , already gone through 20
Yes i know i ended up with with three trays of eggs all the same time oops.
Well better start making a plan before i end up crashing.0 -
I had a no spend day yesterday.
Spent £3.81 on fresh items. In that was reduced Jackson's bread that is nice and soft and in the freezer. I'll take half a dozen slices out as and when needed.
Averaging under my weekly limit so far. I'm focused on watching pence and it seems to be working.0 -

Nipped to A!di for a few bits, and then swung by Mr M where I picked up one item I'd forgotten in A!di - and quite pleased I had forgotten, as I got Whoopsied Organic eggs for not much more than caged eggs in A!di. Sell by today, use by next Wednesday - so we're in for tasty omelettes on Friday :T
Budget to end of today : £24.49
Value of goods bought to end of today : £32.70
Actual shop spend to end of today (used loads of vouchers) : £18.77Cheryl0 -
Hi! Can I join this challenge please
This is our first month actually trying to budget for food shopping so... I have absolutely no idea how this is going to pan out!
I'm hoping to come in under £200 and then start trying to reduce it a little each month.
So far for June we have spent nothingbut food shopping tomorrow so wish me luck lol!
Tried my supermarket for the first time tonight and we are very lucky where we live we have an asda, tesco, waitrose, sainsburys, morrisons, iceland, farm foods and lidl close by. I think the only one we're missing is aldi! But we usually shop at sainsburys as it's just across the street.
Just wondering how often you all do you big shop? We've never done a big shopwe literally go and spend god knows what every 3 or 4 days for next 3 or 4 days. I suggested a monthly shop to my OH but he said it won't work as we'll have to keep going and buying fruit, veg, milk, bread etc and end up spending more!
I have a voucher for £14 off £60 online shop at sainsburys, so may use that to buy all our heavy and frozen stuff to last the month. Then do a small weekly shop at some of the other supermarkets depending what looks best on my supermarket.
We have done a potential meal plan for the next 3 weeks, and using a bit of what we already have
Oh and it's me, OH, our boys who are 4 and 6 years old - home educated so no free school dinners! A very large growing puppy and an elderly cat who has some medical problems that cause an insatiable appetite!Misc debts - £5,000 | Student loan - £9,000 | Mortgage - £180,000
Goals for 2015: Sell house & downsize + Increase income + Get debt Free :shocked: {Diary}

Hiya everyone
Don't know if you're all having problems with this site. This is second day of lost posts, not being able to manoeuvre around and a strange 'timed out' message. Hope it's soon fixed
We had an NSD today and jacket potato with a lovely cheese salad.
Hope you all have a thrifty Thursday

chazsucks - I do what you're planning to do. I do a big main shop at the beginning of the month after doing my mealplan for the whole month using as much as possible from freezers & cupboards.
My big shop incorporates any meat that I need; anything I need for the freezer (veg which are getting low; ice lollies which DH likes instead of a pudding most days!); loo rolls & kitchen rolls; tinned foods to stock up cupboard; any cleaning stuff, washing powder etc.
I then do a weekly shop for fruit, veg, milk, bacon (I don't like frozen), eggs and anything I've forgotten in the monthly shop which runs low. For example, today I need to buy a new big bottle of light soy sauce as used the last of my current bottle and hadn't noticed how low it was. Really should have got that on Tuesday when I did my big shop!
I'm not actually doing the challenge this month as we will be off on holiday soon so decided to leave it for this month and restart in July.
Good luck for your 1st month.

Then 4 of us moved (eldest child moved in with my parents to attend a college by them), and found ourselves within very easy walking distance of a small supermarket and an A!di. I still drove out once a month to a large Mr T or Mr A (or both as on same complex) for a big stock-up, but found I gradually bought more and more locally as and when needed.
After a number of family changes, I'm now catering for me full time, main meals only for my elder son, and my OH at weekends. I get most of my fresh meat in bulk from C0stc0 (having managed to get a card) and some other items from there as well, with the majority of everything else coming from the local (small) Mr M and A!di as and when I need it. About once a week I walk to the next town up (3-5 mile round trip depending on whether I use roads or country paths) to pick up one or two bits from Mr A (very small) or Mr T (small), and once a month I might do an 8-10 mile walk to visit large Mr A, Mr S and Mr T plus a Lid! (I have a large backpack I use to carry the shopping, but it's still not what I'd call a 'main shop').
These days I find I can stick to a list, and as long as I can do that it doesn't really matter whether I shop once a month, once a week or once a dayCheryl0
