Hi, can I join this month please? I have got into a bit of a food rut recently so need to get back to basics of cooking from scratch.
Please put me down for £100 for the month (for 2 adults). My month starts on 25th as that is OHs payday. Thanks.0 -
Yay new thread
Big thanks to everyone who keeps us all ticking over and the new threads coming
Please can my budget be updated to £130 from this month onwards please?
My month runs from 25th March until 24th April
This month we have:
Wonder Bairn's first birthday this Thursday!
Easter weekend at the caravan
bf away this weekend (3 days)
Bf at camp (4 days)
minimum 2 weekends+ possible full week at the caravan
We've also just been given a garage by our housing association (grand old price of £20 per month) which will mean we have loads more space in the house and also I can start to create a bit of a stockpile for harder times (month end/if big surprises crop up) and regular bigger expenses (toilet roll, baby wipes, nappies etc)
The £30 increase will mean I can start my stockpile, cater for wonder bairn's birthday (nothing big just a few bits of party food at home for immediate family) and start a little stockpile for the caravan of things like hot chocolate, tins (soup, pasta, beans etc), nice treats/snacks and dried stuff/packets************************************

Please help- what would you do?
I have been given £40 worth of Sainsburys vouchers and £35 worth of Amazon vouchers :j
I am planning on spending all of the Sainsburys voucher, and about £20 of the Amazon voucher, on food.
How do i work this into my GC? It will significantly reduce the money that i spend on food for the next few months, so do i just declare the money that comes from my own money, or include the voucher spends with my GC if you see what i mean?0 -
personally i think i would 'buy' the vouchers from myself (a bit like the 2nd purse challenge) and put the money ive gained into my savings.
so id take £60 out of my grocery budget and put that in my savings but use the £60 of vouchers for groceries.
hope that makes senseCurrent Mortgage balance - £363,785.35/£420,000 (highest point Oct 2022).0 -

I'm in again - I saw my budget was set at £325.
I'm planning on making more space in the freezer by using up the chicken stock and then I can start with the freezer building blocks. Once we sell our old house, my plan is to get a new freezer (possibly a chest freezer) and make much better use of it. If we get a lodger we will be using part of the first months' rent to buy a new freezer but part of the space will be needed there.
slow cooker meals will be a feature of our dining - especially SC chili, which Mr Cat loved! I might go back to bulking the turkey mince with soya mince and lentils to help reduce / keep costs down.
have to confess that I bought a diary so i can keep track of spends much better. I found with the phone that I'd forget to enter the receipt data and then wouldnt have a clue what I'd spent:o Using the diary, it is so much easier to keep tabs.

EEK - just realised I've got my 6year old's birthday party next Saturday to come out of the April budget:eek:.
I've decided that I'm not going to increase the budget but I don't think I'll be able to squirrel much from this month's to put towards the family holiday
