Well, I posted earlier but OH reset the router so I lost it.
I want to reduce my total to £300 for this month. I've only got 2 more proper pay days until I go on Maternity leave (eek!) so best get saving as much as I can. I may pick up the odd pack of wipes/nappies/cotton wool over the next couple of weeks as well.
Freezer still relatively full and I've really gone off meat, preferring fish and veggie dishes (cannot get enough of lentils right now!).
Mrsd - hope you're out of that plaster now and on the road to recovery! How long til pay day?
March Grocery Challenge - £69.54 / £3000 -
Hello!
I've been awol for a while, and although I don't think my spending has gone out of control, the spends have begun to creep up again to make me a little itchy...
So I'm back here, so you guys can help me back onto the straight and narrow!! We're a family of three- me and two children, 8 and 10, with fairly small appetites. We also feed my partner sometimes, but never know more than a day or two in advance. I guess it averages out at about 6-10 times a month.
I'm starting with a massive stock, as I overbuy when my mood level drops... I have a fridge freezer in the kitchen, and a six-drawer freezer in my outhouse, which are crammed. I also have a mahoosive pantry, crammed, with overflow filling my cupboard under the stairs, and the dining room table is full of tins and cereal bars. I know this is ridiculous, but there are times (periods of approx 2 or 3 months) when I can't help it.
With the lighter days, I can feel my mood changing, so I'm ready to sort it out!! I'm ok for this month for fresh stuff, so won't need to buy anything until at least the first of April.
I'm aiming for £80 for April, as I'll only need bread, milk, fruit/veg, cheese and yoghurts. I think I'll set the budget for £100 so that I don't beat myself up too much for the first time back.

I'm going to pretend March didn't happen.
It hasn't been too bad, but that was more luck than anything.
Trying to take back control for April.
Again looking for £125 just for me and the cats.
While I'm posting, I've a load of tomatoes and mushrooms I need to do something with.
Was thinking a curry with some leftover hard boiled eggs, or a pasta sauce, but I've no onions and don't want to go to the shop.
Anyone have any suggestions? That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Welcome back penny grabber I also spend money when I am feeling down. I spend money to make myself feel better and it always works. I have found myself in the kitchen cooking when I have been blue of late though and I love the fact I have made something and took my mind of what I am fed up about. Hubby loves all the food lol.

Your comment about March me chuckle :rotfl: I totally understand and that summed up how I felt too!
With your tomatoes and mushrooms - what is your store cupboard like for herbs/spices? I have an egg curry recipe which can forgive the no onions but it does need ginger and garlic, turmeric, cumin and ground coriander. Appreciate this isn't helpful if you need to buy those. Or may be roasting the tomatoes with mushrooms garlic dried mixed herbs and olive oil, when cooked whizzing with hand blender to a paste adding stock/pasta water to right consistency for a pasta sauce?
Hmmm actually I've not inspired you really as you had already mentioned curry or pasta sauce! Oops.Grocery Challenge March: £253/£250:eek:still so much of the month left!!!!!!!
