Having tried and failed the GC on many occasions over the last few years whilst married I am hoping that now I am a single mum I can really get more in control of my own money.

So please can I set a target of £160. That's to last us till the 26th.

    Thanks
    April GC 9th-7th may £0/£320

Budget to end of yesterday was £81.63
Spends added to spreadsheet yesterday were (from long-term stock) microwave porridge, pasta and a tin of tuna, plus (from shops) cheese, milk, tinned chopped tomatoes, burgers, 3 packs of biscuits and a ready meal (for DS1 to take to work tonight - means I can leave one I already had in freezer as an emergency back-up, which I find it adviseable to have in).
    Takes total spends for month-to-date to £53.10, with a shop to stock split of 76% : 24% (and 64% : 36% for year-to-date)

Need to nip out today for more milk (!) and some baby potatoes, but plan to use a couple of pieces of salmon and a sauce mix from long-term stock which should balance things out :)

    Hi everyone

I'm at £160 out of a possible £250. Shopping done yesterday for this week.including packed lunches. Just need a bit more salad for my lunches this week. Really can't go over this month. We've booked a holiday for August for me and DH to celebrate my sisters 40th. My mum's having the kids for a week but I want to to take this kids somewhere so need to try to save the pennies as much as I can. Still on Slimming world so even though my spend on f &v has gone up, spending on other shopping has gone right down so overall it's about the same. Dinner have been planned for the next 14 days which will take me to my new month. All main parts of the meal are in the freezer so should only need to spend on veg salad etc. Good luck everyone x

I'm up to £82.82/£200 after this morning's delivery. I need a few bits from Lidl later and I hope that will come in around £10.

Counted my monies, so far I have spent £24, that includes all other expenses such as travel, stationery etc., so ~£19 on fresh food (mainly vegetables, fruits and bread). Pretty sure I won't spend a hundred this month but only because I am stocked up...

I see some of you are very advanced in budgeting, doing some spreadsheets... Even adding the cost of food from the freezer :) I admire you for that!!

  • Have returned to GC after many months being AWOL as I need to get control of my food spending. I am approaching this two ways, by writing every penny I spend and also highlighting items I have brought which are sitting the cupboard unused. Hopeful this will show me which items I use regularly and those which sit for weeks/months in the cupboards. Total spend to date £116.74/£216.67. Aiming for no more big shops until payday on 30 April so that I can use up the items lurking in the kitchen. Hoping to last until next Friday so aiming for 5 NSDs.
Will be back next week to update.
  • I have spent another £6.25 on toilet rolls n booze (!!!) - mmmm wots to say. Im slightly over, but still within budget, and have £23.75 to get through to end of month. The freezer is rammed and so are the cupboards, so I am going to spend on the odd bit of fridge stuff, plus im doing the living below the breadline £1 a day 5 day challenge, so hopefully should be ok
