Evening, had house full so wasnt able to post when I went shopping, didnt do too bad though, spent £72 in Ald! which considering I had 3 extra mouths to feed, wasnt bad, I even splashed out on a bottle of wine at £2.49 and it was lovely, like raspberry cordial, brings my total to £131.18 (still havent worked out how to add to title box at bottom??), all the other days were NSD which was good. My SIL who was visiting couldnt believe how reasonable everything was in Ald!, she says she had an online sainsbob shop ordered and that was only basics and even with £26 worth of vouchers still came to over £90. She says they have an Ald! near her work and she will make the effort to go there when she can. I said even if she only stocks up on the non perishables she could save. My niece who is lactose intolerant only seemed to like alpro soya milk, however she drank the stuff I got in without seeming to notice. I said its longlife and she could buy a months worth at a time, they have space to store it.
    Will report back soon.
    Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

If you click on 'Quick Links' on the green bar and then down and click on 'signature' you will get a box appear. Put in there what you would like and make sure you click 'Save' every time you use it. HTH :D

Well I was pulled and pushed - not quite screaming - to the A & E this afternoon. I was there for THREE AND A HALF HOURS  Three x-rays later (tibia, fibula and ankle) and I came back with some strong painkillers and some anti-inflammatory pills.

There's nothing broken but lots of other damage, which has caused some circulation problems and hence the very swollen and painful leg as well as foot. Now confined to bed or settee with foot raised, cold packs three times daily and only allowed to walk to loo or kitchen for five minutes if absolutely necessary for at least the rest of the week :(

So I'm going to treat this as an emergency and we will have to live on take-aways (which I don't like really) for rest of week so at least we get fed !! I will have to use my 'bulk-buy' fund unfortunately - oh well life happens eh.

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday

I don't like take-aways either - and although I'm also not a fan of ready meals, I much prefer those both in terms of variety and cost. If you're like me, isn't there someone you could sent out to stock up on those (or do an on-line order)?

DS1 and I lived on ready meals for a couple of months last year after I broke my wrist badly - there was no way I could chop, stir and lift pans, but I just about managed lifting ready meal trays into and out of the microwave. Fortunately mine's a combi oven, which meant I could also do oven cook varieties despite not being able to cope with an under work surface built-in oven (couldn't safely hold while trying to stand up).

  • Already spent just over £130 out of my £200 budget, includes online order that will arrive tomorrow and see us pretty much through to the end of next week so I shouldn't be too far out. Just need to resist the temptation to spend whatever I have left in the last week if I don't need to.

Easter holidays have gone for ever, DD finished college a week before Easter and went back this Monday, DS finished school the Thursday before Easter and goes back next week so I'll have had three weeks of feeding assorted teenagers in addition to my own. Luckily none of them are fussy eaters when they're here (though their parents tell a different story).

I'm having to replan my meals for the rest of the month as DH has been told by Dr to avoid beef, oily fish & shellfish! He had to have dinner last night which was already being cooked when he went out to Dr's which involved minced steak!

Guess what's on the plan over the next couple of weeks! Yep, you've guessed it - roast beef dinner, beef kofta tagine, prawn curry & roasted salmon with couscous!

Just hope I can find enough substitutes in the freezer so I don't have to spend more money on meat.

Nsds for the last few days. No money spent since Sunday. Won't need anything until this Sunday either :).

Ch wanted a picnic type tea tonight, which worked really well for me, as there were lots of bits in the fridge waiting to be used up, including two large slices of hm pizza from yesterday's dinner. Don't know what I'll have yet, but it won't be much as I'm not eating much at the moment. Prob cheese and crackers.

OH is feeding me tom eve, and the ch are at their dad's for the next three days, so although I haven't planned specific meals for me, there's plenty here!!

Just hoping now that I don't do my usual trick, and overspend during the last half of the month...!! Anyone else the same?

    Hiya everyone

    Thanks for the good wishes.

The Links Market has arrived on the seafront and opened today. It began in 1304 and I think was originally a weekly farmer's market. In 1305 the king granted a charter to hold a yearly Spring fair, which would have included entertainment/s as well. It has grown to be a full-blown fair, the first of the year and highlights all the new rides. There are videos on U-tube if interested.

They tend to move some of the 'rides' each year and this year we have Waltzer, kiddies roundabout, Jumping Frog, Giant Wheel and Mouse ride in view of our balcony. Just a shame not warm enough to sit outside today but fingers xd for the week-end.

Had a Chinese take-away tonight - now I remember why I don't like take-aways :( It cost me £20 squid out of bulk buy fund as well - I wouldn't have minded so much if I'd enjoyed it but reckon my own 'cheat chinese' is better

Hope you all have a thrifty Thursday
