That sounds nice. Did you add a sauce to it ?

I thought I would try an online order for once.

The Mr T in town was one that was closed in their shake-up and there were a few things I always bought there. They sent me a link for free any-day-delivery (minimum £25) for the next twelve months and also a £12 off my first order if over £60.

I looked on their site and found lots of wine half-price, so ordered some of that and then added some stock cupboard stuff which was also on offer such as 3 for 2 and large fizzy water which is same price as A*di.

It was delivered today spot on time and unloaded into the kitchen - great :T So I will take the £12 off the stock items and deduct £3.02 from my bulk buy and the drink comes off another budget.

L/o cold chicken, salad and refried roasties for dinner tonight so easy for once.

Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday

Grabbed some yellow sticker goodies again - chinese stir fry veggies and fresh egg noodles for 40p, very happy. Will add some onions, red pepper and meat, that should be my lunch for two days.

I've noticed that my diet has improved since budgeting - no more snacks, less food, more varieties...and the pleasure of knowing that I haven't spent much on it!! That will be my biggest lesson from this not so pleasant experince!!

Spent a whopping £1.44 today, on 12 hot cross buns and a big pack of mandarins. Will freeze the buns, as I like to have them every now and then.

Will be doing an aldililly shop tomorrow, and so far the list is bread, milk, fruit, yoghurt, spuds, carrots, onions. Can't see that being a huge cost. £10 ish? Will update tomorrow!

spreadsheet all updated for the day

    breakfast : long-term stock porridge
    lunch : long-term stock mushroom savoury rice/risotto
afternoon snack : a couple of pieces of cake (purchased last month)
tea : chicken casserole (made and accounted for a few weeks ago) with some additional gravy (made using long-term stock granules)
supper : ice-cream (already accounted for)
I also cracked open a bottle of flavoured water (I dilute it, roughly 230ml flavoured to 270ml tap) which I bought last month.

spreadsheet shows budget to end of day as £48.98, with 'spends' of just over £12

Not checked in in a while but a few spends over the weekend at the caravan/this morning.

£3.97 in Asda on fruit and flavoured waters (for my desk at work not the weather is fab)
£4.46 in poundstretcher on stuff for our cupboard at the caravan (multipack of cans of pop for bf, microwave rice, noodles - I'm building a stash over there to keep us away from pizzas/chip shops/pubs every night; I just take some fresh meats, a few essentials and bread/milk and we are sorted)
£8.00 in Aldi - dessert pots for wonder bairn over at the caravan, wraps for bfs pre training foods and a few other bits and bobs

Total of £16.42 added to sig.

will need bread in a few days.

  • Didn't check in last week due to my laptop being a bit slow...its still a bit slow but I have tasks I can be doing whilst I wait for it. I need to give it a spring clean. :p

So last weeks spends at Mr S were £47.50. I've put an order in today for delivery which should be in the same region spends wise but will confirm later.

Thanks to the recommendations on here, I took a look at Muscle Foods. I am tempted to give it a go but may hold off for the moment purely because I've gone off a great deal of meat as a pregnancy aversion. I do need to do a restock though of meat/protein. I cooked a lovely ham hock yesterday only to find it was mostly fat and gristle...very odd as they are usually quite plentiful in terms of meat. Hubs was most disappointed as I'd promised him leftovers for his sandwiches. :D Therefore, there's only some chicken thighs in the freezer (these were really crap quality so I keep meaning to throw them out the day before bin day).

Anyway, enough blathering. I hope injuries are healing and people's budgets are being kind to them.
How long til pay day?

A couple of small spends on Saturday of 49p in B&M and £2.45 in Morries, only went in for a couple of tins of cannelonni beans but it was late enough in the day to look at YS stuff and picked up some green beans & sugarsnaps for 9p each, a pack of 4 bramleys for 19p (2 already used to make apple pie) plus a couple of pots of Polish soft cheese which DH really likes (fortunately because the girl doing the reducing said they were natural yoghurt, LOL!) so a grand total of £2.94 so far for April. Have also had 5 NSDs.

    Signature updated.

Got back from my weekend away, and declaring £58/£150 which seems okay, but one of my other budget pots is well blown.
Column A is budget, B is spend so far
    grocery budget150 spend 58
Weekend away budget 100 spend 153
    other budget 80 spend 10
    subtotal budget 330 spend 221
£100-ish left for the month then... mmm.:undecided
    Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge budget £150, spent so far £45.95, remaining £104.05.
