A spend of £11.08 today on bread, juice, fruit and veg. I also got some pastry to make sausage rolls.

I'm really hoping that the next super 6 meat and veg offers are good. Also the L!dl weekend deals, it seems ages since we had an offer I could stock up on :(

  • Another mini-spend on not needed stuff - £3.63, on a couple of reduced sandwiches and a tub of prawn pasta from Waitro**. Have updated signature. I have found 2 £10 Marks & Spencers vouchers, which I will use if needed, but hoping not to as I want to buy some alcohol at easter. They wont be added into total, as they were part of an Xmas prezzy. Im not planning another spend until 19th (fingers crossed).
  • Hi everyone well I have been a little useless this month still within food budget but I have spent far to much everywhere else being £200 in over draft now. I must find something to do when stressed that is NOT spend money. Sunday was a nsd though.

£11.25 spend in Ald* today :)

thanks, its just so hard to stop spending.

on the positive side clothes/ shoe and makeup spending severely curtailed. two years ago i was spending easily 300 in tesco on clothes , food, linen, dvd, pots and anything that could fit in a trolly.

I usually make beanburgers - just mixed beans & onions blitzed together with some spices like cumin and corriander to spice them up a bit. Make into burgers and then pan fry but make sure they are well sealed before trying to turn them as they break very easily.

There are loads of recipes on line. Jamie Oliver has a recipe online for vegan burgers which might be worth a look.

i use chickpeas, drain and use kitchen paper to absorb any moisture, using tiny spray of oil or few drops of oil pan. ive done them plain mostly but serve with hot chill sauce. very solid and easy to turn. one tin makes four decent burgers.

Just a quick question - apologies if this isn't right thread.

How do you resist the 'extra' goodies that sneak in the trolley when you physically go shopping?

This month I have shopped on line to avoid temptation but next week I only need bread, milk and fruit - I do not trust myself going in as I am a supermarket's ideal shopper. I have tried taking a list, working out how much it should come to and drawing out the cash but somehow.....

    Any thoughts greatly received

  • Hi M1nk1e,
Welcome! If you're having trouble buying extras maybe it would help to have a think about what sort of thing you tend to go for - it might help you discover why (and come up with a plan!) For instance, if you tend to go for chocolate, biscuits, desserts etc, you could make sure you plan to have some treats in the week. If you know you're not going to be deprived, sometimes it's easier to say no in the shop :) That's what I find, anyway. If I've budgeted and planned for one bar of chocolate, I know that one is allowed, so I'm less likely to pick up extras by the till on impulse.

Sometimes I make it a game to spot the marketing ploys - when you can see how you're being manipulated you can scoff and walk on by. :D

And never ever go shopping when you're hungry :rotfl:

Yes, shopping online, having made rough meal plans, is good, dont get a trolly, get a basket, or nothing, if you are just going in for bread, there is only so much you can carry in your arms. I pay with cash, I draw out what I need for the week and try to stick with that and only bring enough money for what you need. I've been doing this a long time, but I still struggle when I see things reduced, but I'm becoming competitive with myself and its an achivement if I stick to my target. Oh and what the lady above said, treats, are good rewards if you reach a target. Don't beat yourself up over things, at least you are trying. Good luck.

£31.71 spent on online delivery last night minus, £9 on Easter eggs (which im classing like birthdays and Christmas presents as they are not everyday groceries). So, £22.71 to add to totalad not very much left to last another three weeks. Also, possibly, might be going Aldi again at end of the month as its the only two days that me and my Dad are off together. So, i'm hoping for two top ups of no more than £25 next week (17th) and week after (24th); which will leave me £40 for Aldi. Need to calm down as loads in. Hoping next month will be more like February.
