:TMonth long shop done from our monthly meal plan.
Only milk, fresh fruit, fresh veg and ham (as hubby isn't keen on it frozen and the dates never run month-long) to buy in our next 3 weekly shops before month-end.

Pleased with myself today, as went to the local shop to collect a parcel and nearly spent £2 on a frozen pizza for tea... But resisted! Left the shop with the parcel and nothing else.Because it's fun to have money!

Hiya - when and where you going Willow ? We will be in Valletta, Malta from 20th to 26th !!
Going to be there the week before Lynne, will also be based in Valetta but am sure will get about quite a bit.
Have done one shop so far(yesterday), £24.66 lots of rice, yoghurt and frozen fruit, also crisps and potatoes, as well as mince and onions. Made some burgers today, but wasn't overly impressed was rather bland but can't remember what I put in them so blaming that one on distracted cooking.0 -
Hi everyone,
DH did a shop last night that somehow came to $44  Guess that just goes to show how comprehensive my shopping lists need to be!! I didn't think to check bread supplies on the weekend... He did buy a few things for work, and other things (I would have just waited til my next big shop).
My careful meal plan will be mostly scrapped or postponed this week as we'll be away for three days for a funeral. My goal today is to come up with travelling food out of what we already have, and do some freezer cook-ups for next week. It's a long drive (6-7 hours) and last time we found food options on the road very difficult. I'm also going to make a big soup to take with us to save the pennies while we're there (plus nobody is really going to feel like cooking anyway).March 2020 grocery challenge $921.76/$500AU

Hi Catherinemm, welcome and good to have another vegan on board, I have been vegan for 15 years-I will be 66 this year-best decision for me.It does get easier,I used the fake meats a lot when starting out but now only occassionaly-especially the new cheese that is out- I use a lot of lentils peas and beans -there is a coooking section at the beginning of this thread and some of the recipes are vegan and some vegetarian ones you can convert to vegan. A lot of people are not keen on the soya milk-but believe me different brands taste different from each other-I make my own laundry powder-stopped wearing make-up years ago-toileteries use the ones that have the rabbit logo or Dr.Bronner's liquid soaps, expensive but it goes a long way-also Faith in nature-bulk buy the washing up liquid -I think this site is great and the people are very helpful-good luck x ps try A girl called jack and ParsleySoup for recipes
Do you take any supplements? I am not sure if i need to take a B12? I am only a few weeks into being a vegan, so am very new to it all.
I like to think that I'll get everything, including B12, from my diet.
Catherine- i am growing my own stuff too. I am growing in pots, so bought some seeds from Wilko that are suitable for container growing.
Potatoes, onions, carrots, dwarf beans, spinach, salad leaves etc.
Hoping that it starts getting warmer soon, so that i can grow0 -
£8.40 to add for wonder web, deep heat and deodorant in Mr S last night. Hoping for a NSD today as I am away this afternoon and overnight with work and meals are paid from expenses. DH will have chilli and rice both from stores. I managed to stick to the meal plan last night but did waver a bit. It was tasty and healthy too.
New FF is coming this afternoon and I still need to unpack the 2 !!!!!! we currently have! It is really cold today (2 degrees) so I am going to just pack everything into cool bags and leave outside on the patio bench.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

OH offered to cook dinner for us last night because I didn't feel well, however when he went to use the potatoes he noticed they had sprouted, which he thinks means poisonous, and I'm not gonna try to educate him differently. As he is colourblind he wouldn't be able to tell if a potato had started turning green - and it's the green potatoes you shouldn't eat.
So,he went to the shop on what was going to be an NSD, and bought more potatoes, and frozen wedges, as well as more frozen veg for some reason, oh, and of course some cans of Guiness.
Lesson learned: don't be ill.
