Afternoon DF0D,
Ohhhh thats a tough one re the party, I hate people like that though!
Re little ones party, I would say hiring a hall and doing your own food and games such as pass the parcel are the cheapest option. Oh you could save yourself the hassle pay over £100 for 12 kids at soft play! Ive done both and much prefer doing my own parties, just because I think I like making life hard for myselfxx

So sorry to hear about your car DFoD. The same happened to me a couple of years back where the suspension, exhaust and tyres all needed doing. It was going to be £1500 at least so in the end I just bought a new one (second hand). It was £208 per month but I reckoned that not having to pay the £1500 meant the new car was 7 months old before it "cost" me anything.

What rubbish news about the car.
I hope after this it will run well for at least the next few years.
I've got all this competitive mum stuff to come haven't I? My sister lives in a very posh, overpriced area. When my nephew was 2, he was invited to another 2 year old's birthday party. They had professional entertainers, a proper sit down meal, personalised chocolate lollies - madness! None of them will remember it!!! My sister felt like she had to follow suit and ended up spending way more than she could afford hiring out a venue and music system. The kids of course all ended up playing on the field outside...which would have been free.
Village hall, a few nibbles (ask everyone to bring a plate or a bottle of pop), a CD player, and loads of traditional games. The tip for pass the parcel is not too many layers as they get bored. Musical statues, musical chairs, pin the tail on the donkey. We did a hula hooping competition at the library recently, and a standing long jump (just tape a tape measure to the floor) and the kids loved it. I wouldn't even bother with party bags - just send everyone home with a piece of cake. It'll be exhausting, but shouldn't cost much money and the kids will ruddy love it.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

Thanks for some good ideas here folks.. I've got the number of the parish hall to call to see how much it is. Am waiting on a quote from an arty party person that we went to a few months back which would just take all my stress away. Will see.
Few surveys done when I got home tonight, £1.75 to payout on YG and finally over £35 on 1Poll.

Found out last night that the job evaluation for my second part time role has come through. Frustratingly I'm at home so can't check till the morning, but I reckon it's about a £1.20 an hour raise but it does say there is scope for placement anywhere on the scale, so I am going to have that conversation with my boss when my appraisal is done.
Party quote is £150 for two hours and I'm really tempted to go with it to just take the stress away from me.. really quite nervous about doing a party..
All are asleep, I just woke at 2.30am and couldn't sleep, so I'm up.. bit silly really given I'm at work from 7am - 9pm today!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Don't just think of the cost for the party. Think about you actually enjoying it too, then the money becomes worth it.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

Afternoon DF0D,
Weve paid that amount for the entertainer too and they are generally worth the money and keep the kids entertained.
Hope you managed to get back to sleep and work isn't too bad today! xxMummytogirls x0 -
Home now, and my lovely boss has agreed to backdate my pay for 18 months! Chuffed with that, so hopefully I'll get about £400 extra next month (it is a very part time job), and also means I'm not at the bottom of the scale!
Must get hall booked tomorrow for the party. I worry about no one turning up for them though.. I'm know it's silly.
Anyway must get some sleep, up at 5am tomorrow!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)
