After all the build up I’d forgotten today was the day! Your posts just reminded me. Just checked (always makes me laugh the message about checking your surroundings before you reveal!) and I’ve won £25. I’ve never won anything before so am thrilled!
  • Awesome PF. What great news!

  • Well August hasn’t turned out to be too kind. Another car breakdown meant work on DHs car and them mine needed tyres. We needed some bits for the veg garden and even though we changed the design to blocks rather than wood, it all costs. Also the kids sports equipment came in at an eye watering £220!
I’ve not done too bad on money made, will tot it all up towards the end of the month.

  • Its looking like I need to have the frugalist September ever. Two months of unexpected costs and expenses has broken us.

But ever one for a challenge I’ve sat down and worked out commitments, divvied up the money coming in and know what I’m working with.  I certainly won’t be hitting our OP target this year of £6k. Will post monthly round up in next few days.

  • Plodding on through September. It hasn’t been as bad as I feared - we will probably end the month with some pennies left but OPs have been few and far between.

Y0ugov surveys seem very active at the moment.

Still trying to navigate a new normal with kids back to home ed but home ed as we know it isn’t the same.

October is looking quiet. I need to buy some plants for the garden and finish the paths in between the veg planters.

  • Letter from water company arrived to say they want to share £20million with customers so we could have a £20 credit on next bill or £20 worth of shares. We took the credit. Maybe they should charge less so they didn’t have £20million spare to share!!

Started focussed Christmas shopping yesterday. I am usually pretty much done by now but no where near and it stresses me.
Ordered two things from Argus on their 2 for £15 and got double nectar points so it’s a start.
Kids found out about FC this year so one less collection of gifts needed so it should be a cheaper Christmas.
I’m finding it hard this year though. They are at a funny age where toys will be a thing of the past in next year or so, so I don’t want to do that. Books which I don’t usually mind buying - I don’t want to. DS is stacked out with books and I’d rather use the library.  I’m thinking more practical gifts like socks / underwear / PJs. Any other ideas?

Anyway off to Argus and then library this morning. Then DD has a friend around so I’m hoping to get into the greenhouse to do some sorting.

  • Yep, I'm taking the credit too - much more useful than a whole two shares 🤣!
    Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!

You scoff - we could be millionaires in 50 years time with those 2 shares!! 😂

  • I’m posting earlier as I just won’t get round to it tomorrow.  Here’s how September shaped up

    Money earned £115.51 ~ total 2020 to date £793.43

    OPs £127.83 ~ total 2020 to date £3144.42

    Mortgage balance - £66,402.32

Mortgage percentage left to pay 30%

    99 months left

+ money earned was good, I got a 700 point survey from ips0s which I don’t think I’ve ever had one that big. Decluttered and sold some more ‘stuff’.

    - the OPs are low compared to earlier in the year and this is likely to continue because as of now, we are changing our focus to saving for a number of reasons. The current situation, retirement in the next 5 years, unsteady incomes from various sources. It just feels the right thing to do now. I will still aim for amount of OP even if it’s just a few pounds or a percentage of everything we save - haven’t quite thought it through yet but focus is on savings in the hope that we can just chuck lump sums at it as and when we feel financially able to.
