That's true SJ.. we've also decided today to bin their swimming lessons.. it was a farce today, so many kids there and in 30 mins, they jumped in once and went across the pool twice.. just need to decide if we do private lessons or me and DH do it. Private will be more expensive than group lessons, but probably quicker in the long run in terms of them swimming. Me and DH doing it.. I'm not sure how that would go and actually would be about the same cost wise as we would be paying for four of us to go in the pool.

Ohhh, just noticed the swim centre does a weekly family swim for £20 a month. That might have sealed it as that would work out way cheaper for us and get me and DH swimming as well..

Lovely day here again today. Off out for the day with the littlies and it's a spendy one, but should come in about £15. If I can just find the motivation to lift my butt off the sofa....

I've had the same dilema over swimming lessons. And after watching many groups i decided id get more time with DS1 in the pool. I've found that being in the pool more often with me he's progressed a lot faster than his mates. His strokes need a bit of work but his confidence playing, jumping, diving is fantastic. Last week we played a game of touching the bottom with nose, ear, chin, elbow, shoulder blades etc... Then added a dive to start, then added a glide under the water to a certain line and a swim back. he thought it was great! As for his strokes he's only 6 and they will come i'm sure of it.
    MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......

Thanks SJ - that's what we are thinking.. we can always go back to lessons if we feel we need to..

Made an overpayment to the mortgage of £72.43 bringing my year to date overpayment to £507.43 so I've achieved the small target I set in January - should easily get over £1000 this year with overpayments.

Lovely day out today and I spent £16 as I bought ice creams as the littlies were soooo good.. needless to say they and me are in bed cream crackered!

Productive weekend in the sunshine in the garden! No spends except for some sand and cement and a tub of screws!

Weather is a bit rubbish out there this morning, so we are taking it easy until it brightens up / I've drank enough tea to get moving!

Just been doing some short term long term planning. I can only focus for 2015 and 2016 really until the debt is gone.. but I want to go into 2017 debt free and ready to really tackle the mortgage, so I've set a few goals and will write them down here so I can refer back to them.

    2015
    #1 DFW - Clear CC2
#2 MFW - Overpay £1000 on the mortgage
    #3 MFW - Mortgage total sub £111,500
#3 SAV - Save £500 to the 'month in hand' fund

    2016
    #1 DFW - Clear CC1
#2 MFW - Overpay £2000 on the mortgage
    #3 MFW - Mortgage total sub £100,000
#3 SAV - Save £2000 to the 'month in hand' fund

These are pretty stretching targets for 2016, but I've got serious work to do over the next 9 years in order to clear this mortgage.

There they are, that's me accountable to these now1

Some great targets there. You're doing much better than you thought you would this year, so although the goals for 2016 look tough, there's a good chance you'll reach them.

SJ - gosh your child is a good swimmer! I learnt when I was 19 so the most I can do is breast stroke a couple of lengths!
    Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%
    Overpayments - £48829.37 :j:j:j

    Thanks Amy.

We plan to carry on with the lessons for August as they are paid for and then start swimming together in September as a family.. £20 for each month and we will get longer in the pool.

Typical - I've done a wash and it's raining. Anyone have a weather app that actually works?
