    Thanks
I had briefly looked & wondered if its worth it but I've not looked at them in any detail to see what they cover. We're contracted to £13.50 per month for the phone & calls etc so not just the phone to consider.

On the whole he's not too bad but acidents do happen & I think part of teaching him to be responsible is also about forward planning, considering the worst case scenario & what can he do to protect himself & is it necessary / worth it.

    Cheers
    Jen

This doesn't matter and doesn't have anything to do with the insurance. You pay mainly for the airtime, not for the phone.

What only matters is that, if needed, a new phone can be bought for ~£110, a second-hand one for peanuts.

So what would happen if he lost the phone & I bought another handset ?

Would I be able to get another sim so that he could access the calls, texts etc we'd be paying for as part of the contract ?

Sorry if this is a daft question but I've never done much with mobiles. I'm on a £7.50 per month contract which I took out because it seemed a better deal for me than a payg. I've never bothered with insurance because I realised the replacement cost would be less than the insurance.
    Thanks

Not sure this is something only the network could answer. Never claimed on my insurance

Almost certainly - but whatever you did the insurance wouldn't pay your line rental.
