Interesting news. I don't think it will be a campaign as such though. After reading it appears to be a drive to build support for Independence.

I look forward to hearing more.

Given the recent poor economic performance I doubt there'll be much forthcoming for a while. Sounds more of a teaser to maintain support ahead of the forthcoming election. Neat way of parking the issue off the agenda. Well that's the hope I guess...

I think your right Leanne ... but have to admit I still didn't expect it so soon ... maybe there's a reason for it though ;)

Can't quite think of one just now ;) lol

I can. There were too many unknowns in the last referendum.

If you can pre-answer things like :-

    a) which currency you plan to use, and on what basis
    b) position regards the EU post-independence, and plan to enter EU or not
    c) nuclear deterrent option. Will you have Trident 2 subs on Scottish soil, and if not, what sort of timetable will you set for them to be moved to south of UK

it will really help your case (IMHO only).

Generali is right that the uncertain voters tend to go with the status quo. It stands to reason you need more certain voters.

On a separate note, shouldn't the Westminster government reconsider where Trident 2 subs are built and stationed?

I can't see how having the nuclear deterrent in a potentially independent country can possibly work. They can plan to avoid this.

I was thinking more along the lines of possible EU ref results :)

Was sure Melvin what's his face said we could easily keep the pound just the other day ;)

But yep I agree move Trident just now it really shouldn't be in a country that is looking like it's gonna be independent soonish

Personally speaking I fancy an EFTA type arrangement, in an independent country that could be sorted out I'm sure

Just a case of wait and see, and in the mean time sit back relax and enjoy :)

It's a long way from 'gathering support' to 'referendum'. Any referendum would be smashed on the rocks of the £15 billion deficit.

But once that ball is rolling :)

Very few that I know are paying attention to the Gers rubbish ... it's a lame duck

You love to make stuff up STD. Just like the YouGov polling where you kept claiming that they had changed their methodology right up until they announced a change in their methodology in future. You went pretty quiet on that.

Mr Cameron has been promising a referendum on the EU since January 2013

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2013/0123/364037-david-cameron-eu/

What's the plan? Gonna carry on lying about that too and hope nobody notices or that at least your 'side' assumes that this is just another evil Unionist slur against the heroic SNPites.

I pity you when you post stuff like this although it's more bathetic than pathetic really.

Yougov have changed their methodology. All the pollsters have been messing about trying to find out where they went wrong in May. Is a bit weird you think they haven't been to be honest.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Haha. Keep telling yourself that if you like but you'd better pray that Londoners keep on paying your bills otherwise you can wave goodbye to a huge part of the welfare state that Scots seem so keen on (presumably because they're not the ones paying for it).

What do you think happens to the country's finances if the price of your main export falls by 70%? Even if you don't believe GERS for some mental reason it is certainly in the right area.

That's my experience too. And some are citing holding them up as reason to leave rather than stay.
