I'm wondering what to do about that bleeding car of mine. The fan belt snapped unexpectedly. It came out of the blue, totally unforeseen. Given my situation string, what should I do?:)0

It's still the bridge, with a wee dose of oil thrown in for good measure
I was listening to the news on the way home and it's quite clear this defect was unforeseen and hadn't been identified as an emergency or in need of critical repair. There was never any funding issue to carry out essential repairs either.
So, why are we still nit picking over this?
Ah, the report from 2010 and the cancelled repair. We can go round and round on this too. The bottom line is a decision was made to postpone until the new bridge was fully functional thus decreasing economic impact & inconvenience to commuters.
Why is that is so difficult to understand?
Why is it worthy of such condemnation?
I wonder.......
Well if they can't SNP BAAADDDDDD then what can they bleat about ?
Come on you kow the rules ... Sturgeon must apologise ... Salmond must apologise .... they are the worst politicians and humans on the planet and I dont know why anyone would trust them with a bridge

Catchy tune, I think it will catch on in this thread anyway:rotfl:
I opened my fridge this morning and there was no milk. I tell you, it's Nicola's fault. I think she should apologise :rotfl:

An interesting example -- I will tell you a true story.
I go to Mallorca a lot where my daughter and her family lives. To save money in the long run we bought a car in 2001. Well this year it was getting past it, although still serviceable, so since I was getting (and subsequently got) a new one I told my daughter she could have the car so that my Granddaughter could use it when she hopefully passes her driving test in the new year.
So I got the car serviced and prepared to mothball it. But I was told by the garage that although there was no imminent danger, the timing belt should really be replaced. If it broke when the car was in use the expense would be very high.
I admit muttering about the wicked god of automobiles but decided to have the timing belt replaced so there was a reasonable expectation of my Grandaughter getting a reliable car to drive around in for a couple of years.
The fan belt installation cost me 729 Euros. But I did it.
So for your belt problem you can see what my basic approach in these maintenance things might be but I duck out of a direct reply to you and will simply say it depends on your circumstances.

Pretty good string!
I see a man in front of a computer feeling quite smug right now
My dilemma is I have other constraints which need attention too. How to choose especially when I know my shiny new car is almost ready. I so much wanted to wait and not have to do an emergency repair. Still I took a gamble and sadly, even though my intentions were good, it didn't work out.0
