how does that make the situation fair and more equal?
good news about the rent controls : will be a wonderful example for the rest of the UK

Levels the playing field a bit. And stops more pressure on councils having to find accommodation for those evicted due to excessive rental hikes etc.
Green MSP Patrick Harvie pointed out almost a fifth of homeless applications come from the private rented sector while average rents across Scotland have risen by 17.5% over the last five years.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Most Scots are voting for braveheart, they've no idea what that actually means in practice

If it had been MOST we'd be free :D
It would mean that we couldn't blame anyone else any longer.

When the posts start getting personal and about 'you' having to justify yourself instead of concentrating on the topic. Just ignore it. It's not worth the bother. ;)

My husband is from Portsmouth. And he's picked up some phrases and things too. With a Scottish wife, living in Scotland with all the kids having my accent it's been difficult not to.. He sounds really funny saying them in his Pompey accent as well ( he love's 'heid the ba' )..

Funnily enough so do I ... and often call my son it ... he laughs when I say it as well :)

Been on MSE for years and only had to use the block button recently ... and every single time it's due to nastiness regarding Scotland ... but hey were the cybernats lol

I'm more curious why a "girl from Plymouth", as she has described herself previously, wants to talk to posters here in what she obviously thinks is Scottish.

I think elantan`s occasional and borderline weird use of the vernacular might be betraying a desperation to fit in.
She even blocked me for the malicious use of the word 'Jock'.:)

I don't block people, even those most vile (In not thinking of anyone here). It's counter productive since the reason we are here is to have a discussion and if we all agreed with ourselves what a boring place it would be.

Does he write stuff down in a Scottish/Hants accent too or is that just our Cod Celt fellow poster?

Thank you for your fine example of, well, proving my point Mr Baw Heed. ;)
noun: similar in meaning to Heid-the ba'. One with an over-inflated opinion of their own importance, pronounced Baw Heed

I have a few people I just don't reply to anymore. They're more interested in insults and trying to make me look stupid ( though am sure many would agree with them ).. than discussing the topic. You get them on every forum and discussion platform.

Anyway, back on topic then ? McDonnell used the SNP to cite why he did a u-turn on voting against the fiscal responsibility charter.
. He cited the change in global economic conditions and the refusal to allow Labour to table an amendment. McDonnell also vowed to assist colleagues in Scotland in challenging the SNP anti-austerity claims.

And Ian McWhirter puts into print what we already know...
SNP being lured into most blatant fiscal trap in 300 years

...Only now is the scale of the UK Government's roll back of welfare becoming clear. ...
...Mr Mundell rejected the claims both of the SNP and the former Labour chancellor, Gordon Brown, that the welfare powers are not genuine, and that Westminster retains a veto on welfare spending.

This must be the most transparent fiscal trap since the Malt Tax in 1713. The cost of welfare is being transferred from the UK to Scotland. The Scottish Government will have to increase taxes significantly if it is to meet its promises about creating a more caring society.

Tory's slash welfare, then the SNP get the blame from all other parties for having to raise taxes to pay for those same Tory cuts. Politically, I have to admit.. it's genius. But it might backfire in being, as Mr McWhirter states, a little TOO blatant.
