With a few exceptions the majority of Scots who voted SNP don't want to be poorer. Otherwise they wouldn't have voted for an alleged anti austerity party like SNP.

At the moment in Scotland for SNP supporters, they can do no wrong. For now at least.

But never forget SNP do not represent or speak for the majority in Scotland, despite their numerous attempts to claim that they do.

Do you think the Tories speak for the majority in the UK in that case ?
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

I think a rather interesting article has just popped up in "The National" today, written by the new SNP MP for East Lothian, George Keravan, who also just happens to be an economist.... :)

    Here's a quote....
"We all know that in present UK economic circumstances a fiscally autonomous Scotland would face a significant budget deficit.

For Scotland to accept fiscal autonomy without inbuilt UK-wide fiscal balancing would be tantamount to economic suicide"

~George Keravan, Economist, SNP MP for East Lothian

    .

    Finally....

The SNP have admitted that all the indref rhetoric about 'sending Westminster more than we get back' was a load of tripe.

Although "inbuilt fiscal balancing" is a bit wordy....

Why not just use the word "subsidy"? :rotfl:

Why do the Scots want more Scottishness in Westminster.

    They have their own parliament.

If they did not have their own parliament it would be different.

I also have to say I have some doubts about the efficacy of some of these MP's Scot's have saddled themselves with. I presume people who voted for that 20 year old student rather than the Labour guy actually realise that if they need to see their MP in surgery because they have a desperate problem and nowhere else to turn, then that's who they have to go to. Hope she has time to see them after her other important duties marshalling Freshers week and scanning Expedia to see whether her NUS discount on reading week package tours to Ibiza is valid.

:rotfl: Good to see the RT humour is still in tact!

I'll admit it now. One of my pet hates is the rise of the career politician.

What is wrong with this 20yo completing her degree and working for a a number of years before bidding to become an MP?

Don't we want people who have gained life and business experience?

I thought her "nut" comment showed a level of immaturity. She won't be the only careerist though.

Just as the Tories aren't England on a paltry 37% of the vote. Two can play that game bud ;) Many saw those posters as anti-Scottish. And things like 'aJockalypse' wording as such too. From the Tories ( not the English )

If you see a poster that is anti-SNP as being anti-Scottish I think it's fair to say you conflate Scotland and the SNP.

The term aJockalypse is just a joke. Rather like when the English cricket team was beaten 5-0 by the West Indies it was termed a Blackwash. Neither term is racist, it's just a play on words.

So you admit that the reality was "Vote SNP, Get a Tory Government".

    :)

Labour could have got 59 out of 59 seats in Scotland and still not achieved a majority.

You can't blame Labour's demise on the SNP

She was quite early in saying she won't press for another referendum, but that wasn't to placate the English, it was to reassure Unionist Scot's who outnumber separatists 3 to 1.

I believe the vote was circa 2,001,926 to 1,617,989.

So those that wanted to remain in the union equate to 4.95 to 4 or in whole numbers 99:80

You absolutely can blame it on the SNP.

It was the fear of the SNP holding a weak Labour minority government to ransom (as indeed they were proudly claiming they would through the campaign) and pushing the country too far left that likely caused a Tory majority.

I was against it but given the hostility displayed by the SNP (who represent so many Scots) towards the English and the political system of the United Kingdom, I have come round to the same conclusion myself. They would, of course, have to decouple from the United Kingdom in every way, including financially, and would have to have their own currency. Then they could go their own way without the rest of the United Kingdom having to deal with them.

There's no hostility from SNP voters north of the border towards the English. You've been duped I'm afraid to say

In this election, the SNP DID get the majority of the vote, something that has never occurred in UK politics to my knowledge
