What's funniest of all is that by refusing to join a Government, the SNP can't propose any spending bills or increase taxes on the rich.
They didn't think that one through.0 -
@Shakey - legitimacy
What precisely do you/the SNP understand by the word legitimacy when it comes to entitlement in the House of Commons?
What rights do you think result?Union, not Disunion
I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.
It's the only way to fly straight.0 -
The SNP said they would vote down a Labour budget as plans stand:

So the question is perfectly simple, what happens after the SNP vote down a budget, be it Labour or Tory?
If Labour is the minority government, then they need to learn how to operate as a minority government.
That means working with all partied in order to gain enough for a majority consensus.
It means that they have to negotiate.
As with the Trident example, it will not be in the SNP's powers to block Trident if sufficient Labour and Conservatives vote in favour.
So in truth, the SNP will not have the power to vote down and budget on their own.
Nonetheless, if 50 SNP vote against the budget and 250 Cons vote against it, you'll blame the SNP won't you?:wall:

No fans of democracy, this lot.....
Watch the clip, where was the violence?
They chose to campaign in a public place and didn't like being heckled.
Their playing a victim mentality as a response for losing their votes.
Don't let the facts get in the way though:wall:

Yep, better watch out for the reported violence he portrayed.
Might have given someone a nasty papercut waving a flag or something.:wall:

They might get the support of a few rebel back benchers and the greens if they have an MPs but that isn't going to get them very far.
Agreed, hence they would not be to blame for any policy which fails to get the consensus backing required.
Of course, with policies so close, a small compromise could achieve the majority they need on a vote by vote basis.:wall:

Yep, watched it.
One protester put a piece of cardboard in front of Jim Murphy whilst walking (didn't see what it was).
There was more pushing and cards in the face of the guy with the megaphone.
I didn't see any SNP badges or emblems or signs.
Looked like Murphy and Izzard, looking to voice their opinion in a public place and could not compete with alternative opinions in the same public place.
Looks like they wanted people to sit down and shut up to hear their spin.
As shakey said earlier, they should have organised a proper event if they wanted that.:wall:

chewmylegoff wrote: »Perhaps - but that doesn't necessarily mean a budget which is more acceptable to the SNP it just means one they can get through. It possible in that scenario that they would cut spending commitments to come up with something the Tories will vote through than accede to the SNP's demands for increased public spending.
Indeed, hence all this spin about SNP holding power is just spin and bullsh!t, to try and dupe the electorate.
Oh how it would be great for openness and honesty in politics.:wall:
