Here's one of the mob leaders from the 'Scottish Resistance' crew that disrupted today's Murphy/Izzard event....
According to Shakey and Co, he has nothing to do with the SNP of course....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Well actually they won't. The UK would just continue with the same budget until the budget the Government put up was voted for. That could continue indefinitely.
The opposition of course can't put up a budget. They can vote, I believe, to reduce specific taxes but not to increase them.
Whoooops...
That's not good news for Labour or the Nats.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Of course, there's always "QuislingWatch"....
Or 'Civic Nationalism' as Nicola Sturgeon and Shakey describe it.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

That's the likely political answer.
The constitutional answer? Absolutely nothing at all. The old budget remains in place until it's replaced by a new one. In addition, opposition parties cannot vote to increase taxes so a minority Government failing to get a budget through couldn't have extra taxation foisted on it by opposition parties. This is governed by Standing Order 48:
The Crown in this case is the Government. The rest of it means that only the Government can put forward a vote to increase taxes.
Remember how I was saying that a big problem for the SNP will be that they don't really understand the rules at Westminster? Hmmm.
I wonder how they think they can vote down Trident. There will be no vote on Trident. The MoD will be allotted some money and will then spend it as they see fit (within certain limits).
Even if there is a vote on trident Labour, Lib Dem and Conservatives all support the renewal of trident so there is no chance of the SNP getting their way. They might get the support of a few rebel back benchers and the greens if they have an MPs but that isn't going to get them very far.0 -

Honestly, you do yourself no favours when you blindly support the mob mentality here Shakey, just come out and condemn without reservation anyone who had anything to do with arranging it.
Including, in this case, the SNP.
There's now video up here as well, of the SNP mob screaming, blaring sirens, blasting music, and bing disruptive to try and drown out Izzard and Murphy.
Why are the SNP so scared of free speech?
Yes Hamish.. It looks a total mass riot there ( see below ).
It looks like a trumped up PR stunt to me.. With the hardline socialist guy who chased Iain Gray into a sandwich bar in 2011 trying to 'recreate' the moment. Reports of a whole FOUR protestors there ? Seriously... mob mentality ?
These prostesters have no affiliation with the SNP and have stated so themselves. Nicola Sturgeon has condemned the incident. These protestors have been turning up at Labour events for years now apparently. So they evidently know when and where without anyone having to feed them timetables.
Like I said, 'stage managed' incident. And obviously so. Jim Murphy trying to recreate an egg moment and generate some sympathy headlines no doubt. It's not like outside St Enoch station is very private anyway. If Murphy and Izzard had wanted a real debate complete with silent listeners to their words, then they should have organised one.
The fact that you want me to condemn it as something SNP related and rabid 'mob mentality'.. is kind of the entire point of the stunt. However, since this isn't an indy ref, but a UK wide election, there will probably be very little milage this time round for Jim. Russell Brand coming out for Labour has pushed it off as today's 'story'.And weirdest of all, the Basingstoke Gazette – legendary for its real-time coverage of events in Glasgow – had a hefty 900-word story (this piece, for reference, is about 840) on the cataclysmic events.
It wasn’t alone, of course. The Press & Journal, Huffington Post, Guardian, STV, BBC, Daily Record and more also had pieces up within moments of the first heckle. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Are we back re-running the independence referendum Hamish. Because I can't be bothered. There's a Westminster election in 3 days time...It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

No need to speculate, you can watch the video for yourself....

This will also be true of the Lib Dems ( they've set out several 'red lines' of their own re budgets ) if they are working with the Tories again.
That's one of the consequences of not gaining an overall majority for any party.
Perhaps - but that doesn't necessarily mean a budget which is more acceptable to the SNP it just means one they can get through. It possible in that scenario that they would cut spending commitments to come up with something the Tories will vote through than accede to the SNP's demands for increased public spending.0 -

Yes, that's what I was saying. Consensus politics in minority governments. Things carry on as is indefinitely until all agree to pass budgets etc.
In the absence of a majority, and on a vote by vote basis, all parties are free to vote for/abstain/vote down anything they like. The SNP have said how they will vote re further austerity already should Labour be in power via a minority govt. As have the Lib Dems in the event of a Tory one. Both bigger parties will be unable to steam roll their entire manifesto commitments through in that case. As is the case for the smaller parties who would be unable to get everything through included in theirs. Compromises. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Yes, that's right. But they'll have to be aware of how that will look to their supporters and voters. The kind of people who are staunch Labour voters, might not look favourably on Labour modifying loads of bills in order to suit Tory MP's.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
