Best of luck Lewt, I am sure you'll be fine. How long do they reckon you have to go without drinking before your blood is clear?

Also, does the liver repair itself when you stop drinking?

I've just completed one full month plus a couple of days - feeling great.

Oh dear, was that a direct result of what you said on post #444? If so, he is being very unreasonable. I know it won't help now, but in the long run you are probably better of without him.

It doesn't sound like you have fallen too heavily off the wagon, so don't worry. Alcohol is not a mortal sin, and if you can stick to the occasional couple then that's what countless millions of people do, with no ill effects.

I haven't sworn never to drink again myself - I'm keeping my options open. That way I don't feel deprived.

on the form me and the doctor filled out they asked the doctor to fill out asked if i had had any alcohol related vists or something like that for the last 3 years. so we had to put yes. when i filled out my form i just put no to everything..... lol , i'll be ok coz i put the same as i put la1st year. it was nice to see what they were asking of the doctor too though.

bogof babe the liver is the only.... er organ thats it! to repair its self. which is something we can be gratefull for. i think it does stop at a certain point though.

I just stop drinking a day at a time. i dont worry about telling myself its for keeps or for the rest of my life cause it seems sooooo long and the alky in me will use that to bring me down or make me obsess if i let him.

i tried and failed loads in the years before last. its like what one of them inventors from the past says ( i cant remember which one) it's not failing cause you have found another way that don't work. thus you are closer to the solution.....

Sometimes i think it would be nice to take that one drink and leave it but the trouble i had trying and fully beliving i could then failing brings me back down to earth. i also enjoy a much better life these days.

he was been unreasonable about a lot of things and very controlling over me, and i finally couldnt take any more, i love him dearly but the emotional pain he was causing was too much to bear

Shaz, if its any consolation, i ended up leaving my then OH, just it took me two years sober to work out how bad things were with us and how much that impacted on my drinking.

We did eventually get back together but only when he changed. I found what i needed to do and left it to him to decide if he was going to be there for me as I wasnt going back to the way things were. Its not been all plain sailing, we have our ups and downs but he working with me nowdays and not against me and we are now four years married
