DIY as a money saver - New forum area??

Ok as this is the only forum area where I can ask a new question:
How come DIY is not a major money saving discussion area? As an active DIYer of anything I have saved thousands over the years, but it doesn't seem to be a topic covered on this site very much. How come? Shouldn't it be?

What is wrong with the "In my home (includes DIY)..." part of the forum - that offers a lot of DIY advice on topics as well as helping people get the right contractors for things they can't do themselves.Adventure before Dementia!0

Ok but quite a lot of DIY can be outside the home as well and an all encompassing category could be useful. Basically anything to fix things or save a lot of money.0 -
The in my home bit really means - in and around - although there is also a "greenfingered" bit for gardening so fixing a drive might fall into either category.Adventure before Dementia!0

That bit I do not understand, all sections of the forum have the same buttons for starting a new thread.
I think I am more used to the site now, so not a problem now but although I am quite computer literate, but you might be surprised at how difficult it appeared to be to start a thread. I went to the forum then say, clicked on essential money sub category, thinking I could then start a new thread there, but no new thread button. The help video on how to ask a question, didn't actually show how to start a thread.
Eventually I realised that I was looking at a list of fixed sub-sub categories under the sub category essential money, but because there were so many I falsely assumed they were the questions and thought I could start a new thread at the level I was at. Silly me.
Finally realised I had to go down another sub level, then the new thread button appears.0 -
Thanks for the feedback Diychap!
In my Home is set up for DIY related questions so that's a good place to start but as someone said it's worth having a look at the Greenfingered board tooCould you do with a Money Makeover?
