    Min's game for today:

    Day 8:
1 - cracked ex-sugar bowl turned crocus bowl (yes, another one!)
2 - inserts from magazines (thrown away instead of being kept in case there's something interesting lurking there)
3 - 8 six books to take to CS

Hugs to everyone especially all those who have reasons for the stuff they have and family histories that have reasons embedded in them. We none of us can judge anyone as we don't know the reasons for things or another persons history and baggage.

    Hugs to everyone.

The 'clothes sagas' have really made me think about my wardrobe, and why I am hanging on to so much stuff, and its down to my childhood.

Parents very poor but 'respectable', so every item had a lot of thought given to it before buying - as the eldest and no older cousins, I got the occasional new item, but most were hand made (and I
hated it!) (I would of loved a M&S thin school cardy). My sisters had to have my cast offs.

And going back a few pages we didn't have a fridge till the end of the sixties either. I well remember the milk coming in off the step (with the tops pecked off by the blue tits in winter), and having to go into a bowl of
water. We had a meat safe as well.

It all explains a few things doesn't it.

So I have just kondoed a couple of hours looking at photos. :o

Sorry, Marie, the photos are staying, even the hideous ones of me...

I think I'd better leave them alone for a while, or nothing will get done
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Day 8

Book kondo! Moved on to a slightly random version of book kondoing as oh gets boxes of books down from loft ( stored there while we decorated and not missed) . now looking again at them there quite a few who are like old friends and make me smile. But others which are more easily disposed. Finding it easier than before to get rid of the reference ones and the ones I brought to learn a skill or technique. Perhaps I'm ready to acknowledge I'll never read most now. Also back to reading fiction as I want to read some of the books before I kondo them.

Reading is more attractive to me because as part of my new minimise to maximise approach to life I'm cutting down on my online browsing for November - I was pretty much addicted. Allowing myself to look at this thread, two news websites and any urgent transactional browsing - e.g. to open an ISA, check and reply to email and do online banking etc.

    1 to 8 books - c/s

Between me and Dh this morning we bagged up about 800 videos, I'm going to offer them on freecycle incase anyone wants them for crafting/allotment/whatever use but next weekend we will do a tip run with any that are left! Two bags of rubbish got cleared and there are about 10 holdalls full of martial arts suits belts gloves etc they will be offered to a friend who still runs a club if he doesn't want them they can go to the CS. Drive will looks much better when all of that is gone.

Don't blame you - but did you keep all the photos of scenery and of that lady whose name you can't remember that went on the city bus tour with you in 1999? :rotfl:

Wow 800!!! :T that's a huge amount of stuff kondoed! Videos take up lots of space. Can't remember if you said early on in the thread if there was a particular reason you had so many?

Reason we have so many videos is simply that Dh wouldn't let them go when we moved on to DVDs, so they all got boxed up and stored outside under the drive. Because I've slowly been kondoing away at other stuff he's started to see the light and the space emerging. My friend was helping him to master handstands on Friday and commented he needed more room to roll out, so Saturday he suggested going through the videos with a view to clearing some space, a few have been saving but it's fractional to what will be leaving.
We a slowly working through the DVDs and watching them but now if we aren't going to watch it again it is being given away to friends/family or put in the CS bag. Have huge amounts of them as well, but it's getting under control.
