I'm a long time lurker - love this thread! But planning on joining in the mins game this month. I've been pretty good at getting rid of things, but I need some extra encouragement!
So catching up, yesterday a pair of shoes left the house. Today it's two handbags.0 -
Loving that so many people are doing Mins game
You won't regret it......I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Katkin, I don't find my clothes are creased - they are more rolled than folded. I am still storing t-shirts on hangers as I have more hanging space than drawers, but I don't iron them anyway. I find just wearing them straightens out any creases.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

Katkin - I don't seem to have many problems with clothes creasing (I may just have lower standards than you tho!). They tend to be fairly gently folded, and not squished too tight together which did make them creased at first. Or maybe its the fabric types?
VJs - thank you so much for posting about the mins gameI don't think I would thought about jewellery box without it

Our American equivalent was just called 'Suntan' and was as equally unappreciated. Although noting that online sellers are now referring to it as 'Sunkissed' in the States.
Keeps those marketing people in a job I guess.
Happy Kondo'ing and min-ing to those working hard today.

Morning all.
Chuckling at uk_american being baffled by 'American Tan' tights, I guess it's a generational thing, you have to be a bit older as a Brit to have encountered this ghastly shade of beige.
Yesterday I hacked the back and far side of the shed out of the brambles and nettles. This corner of my plot is edged by three other plots, two of which are tenanted but overgrown and one of which is just unoccupied and has nettles 6 ft tall! It's very tiresome, because I have to do this every few months and can never get to the root of the problem (the roots being literally on other plots).
I'd like to play minsgame, I really would, but I don't think I have enough stuff left lying around. I mean, there is stuff here in excess, but it's stuff being removed as it's being used up, so not going to be done in a hurry like a month.Perhaps I could try it in a sort-of way, if you'd humour me?
1st October - a broken willow tray basket - added to bonfire.
2nd October - 2 IKEYA bagfuls of brambles and nettles - to tip.
3rd October - 2 books and a mug - chazzer bag.
Anyway, got the obstructions out of the way and painted all of the shed once and the end of it twice, planning to do more today. This can of Autumn Gold is a 9 litre jobbie and there's still a good 4 inches of it left in the bottom, dammit. I shall have a yeller shed for a while as yet.
Will be going up there again this afternoon, to have the shed at maximum dryness for painting, and will be doing a dump run with the brambles, probably one before and one after I do the painting. I think me and the pushbike ought to get loyalty points at the tip, we're there so often.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Welcome back, jinny! Lovely to see you again - you've been missed! :coffee:
Great to hear that your summer has been so joyful.
I remember those diamond pattern stockings! In the 60s, I wore navy blue ones, 4in heels and my pencil skirt turn over at the waist. I was a London Routemaster Clippie - it was a bu88er ticketing the top deck in those heels! And the skirt was made-to-measure uniform - best fit ever! :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

Can I ask how you are finding your folded clothes? Do you find the fold-lines / wrinkles annoying or not?
I have loads of room in my wardrobe now I'm folding t-tops, jumpers, leggings, bottoms etc instead of hanging them up, but the wrinkles / lines annoy me a bit.
KonMarie's method certainly saves me time and I do find it worth the folding time with clothes, household textiles etc as its so easy to find things and organise outfits, the household easily. There is definitely joy just in the actual act of opening a drawer!
However, I often think, I should run the iron over this again...:o
I never iron anything (if it needs ironing/dry cleaning - it stays in the shop!)
If you iron things, let them cool completely before folding them, or they will crease. Also, ironing man-made fabrics can 'kill' the 'body' in them.
You could also experiment with different forms of folding/rolling, to find one that suits you better.

GQ: American Tan was far from the usual beige - it was more Autumn Gold! :rotfl:
The brambles: before both my gardens got covered in the bl00dy things, I cut them down early in the year, after spraying them with a systemic weedkiller. A once a year job, and it was decreasing them, gradually.
Nettles: I make nettle soup with the young growth, or use them as cooked 'greens'. Lovely, and FREE!
iTwin: Happily, the road-menders had moved on in time for me to catch the post with the 2 mins balls of wool - 100g cost me an arm and a leg to post them first class! But they've gone! :j
Now, I'm off to find my 3 mins things for today, plus the extra 1 for the ball of yarn that should come (in exchange) in the post!
Oh, I have the exchange item - just noticed a plastic hairband never worn! Off to put it in the recycling! :dance:Needs, NOT wants!
