• I've been 6 years in this country and never heard of the 'American Tan' shade of stockings but then again I rarely buy stockings. Yet again I learn something new from this thread, ha!

Our American equivalent was just called 'Suntan' and was as equally unappreciated. Although noting that online sellers are now referring to it as 'Sunkissed' in the States.

Keeps those marketing people in a job I guess. :D

Happy Kondo'ing and min-ing to those working hard today.

Hi all I've been popping in to lurk now and then as I have been Mia for most of the summer. Due to my home being kondoed earlier in the year. Well I've been everywhere man staying with friends and family. Hi to all the new peeps I haven't met yet. I'm one of the old biddys from way back in the thread. Keep going you will get there.
One of my friends I stayed with whoa her house is clean and neat but boy does she have some ornaments. It's her pleasure of course but they would drive me nuts. She fills every bit of wall space with pictures. Again very nice but so 'noisy'. To each their own just not for me. The bedroom I stayed in was like a charity shop. I didn't sleep to well in there I'm used to an room with just a bed a clothes rail and a bedside cabinet. I've so Enjoyed the summer even the rainy days. Back to home to winterfy it now.
Saw this on pininterest thought it might be helpful bit American but good advice.

Will catch up with the thread soon. Getting rid of some chairs soon as a family member is giving me a nice sofa. It's nearly new she changes furniture a lot. Her home and garden is full of chairs there's only her and hubby they don't get many visitors either...crazy.

Ps I remember American tan tights
We had diamond mesh American tan as well not fishnet the pattern was diamonds he he

• Ah, the American Tan and 'rose toes' brings back memories! Bad ones. I wear black 60 denier these days, when I have to wear them - hides the varicose veins
And yes, I too have bought - and used - Autumn Gold, never again.

I love the idea of using ice cube trays to hold small stuff - genius. I'm going to Kondo the freezer (one of three) later, and may have some spare.

Jinny - welcome back, been wondering where you were. Hope all is well, and that you've got a permanent base now

• Hi everyone

Not posted for a while and it's been slow progress in the 321 house! Mainly due to hubby working all hours and me having to pick up the slack, plus enjoying the lovely weather while it lasts!

Did manage to Kondoe the kitchen drawers, everything is in its place and neatly folded and a lot of things found their way to the CS (does anyone actually use the Tupp@rwar@ orange peelers?). Can't afford a new kitchen so need to spruce up what we have so I have managed to get some spare doors and drawers for our units (good old fleabay)so will be replacing the ones that have 'blown' and also need to source new flooring. Have over a tin of 'kitchen and bathroom' paint left from doing DS's bedroom so will slap some of that on the walls.

Hoping to Kondoe the conservatory tomorrow as it is a magnet for clutter and the storage space out there could be far better utilised. Planning to get back in the loft again on Sunday, target is another 30 bags to CS, will let you know how that goes!!

My mindset is definitely changing due to this process, there were some corking deals on QVc yesterday for Sbc gels, which I love, I only ordered the one item I am getting low on and resisted the lovely sets, especially the 29 piece one! And there are L'Occitane and Ren giveaways on magazines this month which I normally would have grabbed (at least one copy of each) but again I have resisted as I have loads in my stockpile and there are always offers and giveaways!!

I will declutter and tidy my house, hopefully before Christmas!!

Have a lovely weekend

Not sure if this is cheating already but I'm not sure if I'll come on the putter over the weekend, so

Mins game
Day 3
1 religious (holy) sock-binned
1 biro that leaked in my apron pocket - binned
1 birthday card from stash (will be delivered to friends DGD tomorrow)
Day 4
1 naff rubber keyring from my key ring - binned
1 Keyring from previous insurance company from my key ring - binned
Large root from a plant i was going to transfer from front to back garden but it's died while it was waiting - composted
Jug of privet cutting from the kitchen window I never got round to rooting. - composted

Tomorrow we are cutting mils lawn and I'm planning to bag some of the vast number of old paint tins and dropping them at the tip on the way to seeing DD1.

Have also got a Cs run planned, only one bag this time but it's going out.

Can I ask how you are finding your folded clothes? Do you find the fold-lines / wrinkles annoying or not?

I have loads of room in my wardrobe now I'm folding t-tops, jumpers, leggings, bottoms etc instead of hanging them up, but the wrinkles / lines annoy me a bit.

KonMarie's method certainly saves me time and I do find it worth the folding time with clothes, household textiles etc as its so easy to find things and organise outfits, the household easily. There is definitely joy just in the actual act of opening a drawer!

However, I often think, I should run the iron over this again...:o

Thanks so much for your advice re: knitted cushions iQueen. I have a short break planned for next week and when I get back I'm anticipating that the Indian Summer will be over and will make a start on the winter jobs of which that's one. Also planning to redecorate dining room and there'll be some soft furnishing involved there too.

I liked the tips for the shallow drawer too. In the drawer of my sofa table I have a cutlery tray which works well for pens and pencils and that sort of thing. I think I'll start tomorrow by at least going through it all and deciding what can stay and then categorising then I'll have a better idea of storage needed.

I've been 6 years in this country and never heard of the 'American Tan' shade of stockings but then again I rarely buy stockings. Yet again I learn something new from this thread, ha!

I think you'd have needed to be here about 50 years to have met American Tan!:rotfl:I suppose it was the stockings equivalent of being tangoed.

Been to dd2 ' s today to put some plants in and spruce it up,she definitely doesn't have green fingers!
Nipped up to dgs bedroom to see if we can squeeze a wardrobe in somewhere!
Sorted through some of his books and kondoed the ones he'd grown out of to his cousin.
Still itching to get in dd2 bedroom but she still not having any :rotfl:
