    Morning everyone.

    Oops! _pale_

After a lovely genealogical weekend a week ago, where I found more questions than answers, I completely fell off the kondo wagon! :(

The main reson for this, is that I kept putting off trying to catrch up with the posts on here! I'm always telling posters to 'maintain the kondoed areas', as they progress, but I didn't follow my own advice and, most importantly, neglected the Konvert support on here! :o

Not catching up with the posts, affected the rest of my daily life, so everything (nearly) has collapsed, in the face of RL.

The kitchen is in (more) of a state, and has to be my first task today. I'm back in kondo mode, because I can't stand the mess! Then there are all the rest of the household chores to kondo.

Unusually, I'm not allowing myself to spend the day, catching up on a week's worth of posts here - that will have to be done, as and when. Missing a week, has shown me that all your posts, are a very important part of the motivation. So, I'm glad to be back. :)

My drawers are still tidy, along with the other areas I've kondoed, and I have weeded out a few clothes to be re-purposed into dresses, tunics and leggings, for GD1, due in about 7 weeks. So, I need to get back to proper kondoing again, to be able to do that. :j

I can see that the past week's laziness was not so much a welcome rest, but rather the top of a slippery slope! Thank heavens, I caught on early. :D

So, I'm back on track again. Might re-read The Bible, too.

    I'm still

No food waste since November 2010. :j
    No debts.

Morning, all. I am hoping to make a bit of a breakthrough on some stubborn areas of Komono this week, I have lacked focus recently and maybe I need a quick refresher from the Book.

The only kondo going on here today is the ironing basket. I'm more than half way through but decided to have a break.

DH dropped off 4 bags at the CS earlier so that's good motivation to start filling more.

May I ask if anyone has a letter rack? I've one on a kitchen surface and realised today that it holds anything but letters. I'm pretty good at dealing with mail as it comes in and so many things are dealt with via email that I prefer to keep 'pending' post in the study. So it holds old photos, theatre tickets for coming shows, old programmes and other assorted kimono. I anticipate it will be cleared and waved on its way by the end of the week;).
  • I used to have a letter rack maman, but found the same as you it gathered up anything but letters.

I don't have a letter rack :) My pending post to deal with goes on the far kitchen windowsill - doesn't look the best but means I try not to let it build up. also includes all school/ cubs/ beavers/ cadets stuff which is ongoing. Things like tickets for upcoming events go on the office noticeboard

  • One of the Flylady things which stuck with me (a lot of it didn't) was the one about dealing with post as soon as it comes through the door. I have an upright folder (the sort you keep magazines in) for 'outgoing' and a flat tray, which I covered with wallpaper to match the hall, for 'in'. If I'm honest though most stuff comes into the kitchen, gets opened, the envelopes and any leaflets/junk go straight into recycling and the contents go upstairs for filing. I think I could probably dispense with the tray and folder, now I think about it!

That was my thinking too. I try to deal with post as soon as it gets through the door but if I'm not in at the time I tend to leave post that's not been sorted on the hall table so that it bugs me into dealing with it each time I pass. I then feel happy to see the table back uncluttered again when it's done.

The letter rack is now empty. Lots of kimono to recycling, some to the old photos stash, a few bits shredded. Empty rack is first for new CS bag.:)

I'm struggling with some books. I don't use them but they bring me sentimental joy ,IYSWIM, i proudly won them at primary school and I want to keep them. I have keepsake boxes for my girls and feel I should have one of my own? What do others think? I am talking one that fits under the bed. Just one. That is the house rule. Dd was really In awe when she saw my reception school books from mums as I learnt to write, I kept hers too and it was really great to see how education has changed!

Of course you should keep your books if they bring you sentimental joy :)

I have one that's really old and falling to bits but I keep it because it was my Dad's (and it's a fun read, though very dated).

Morning, all. I am hoping to make a bit of a breakthrough on some stubborn areas of Komono this week, I have lacked focus recently and maybe I need a quick refresher from the Book.

Thought for the day: abundance without attachment

I was feeling the same then I followed the link to the audio book someone kindly posted and started listening to it on my commute. I realised I'd missed loads from my initial reading of the book and it really got me going again. The woman's voice who reads it is quite mesmerising. I started to feel brainwashed lol! Frustrated with being at work so much and therefore being unable to crack on at home, I started kondoing my cupboard, draws and desk at work, and ooh my, what a mess I was ignoring every day!! Found a lotto ticket dated 2010 and something sticky....eugh!! A billion pens have been rehomed along with various other items from the days of a reformed stationery hoarder....

I have real issues with letter rack clutter. In my mind, I deal with it as it arrives but that large pile says otherwise. ...

Sunday saw the contents of the 'mystery cupboard" in the kitchen completely emptied out and put into loose categories.: baking (metal and light items), glass and ceramic cookware, tupperware, drink containers and items I want to keep but in low use.
After much faffing, I put low use items in the back bit that's really hard to get at in a shallow box and then the other categories similarly with light boxes on front so easily moved. I ended up with boxes big enough to store each category but so you could easily see and reach the items inside. At first I had boxes that were the height of the shelf. Much too annoying and felt like I was moving house. Also used the lids for some categories that could just be pulled out.
I think its proof of just how much excess storage I had, how many times I rearranged everything till it felt ok but now to live with it...
Gone to the animal chazza- coffee maker , coffee bean grinder, salad spinner and (after some reminiscing) toasted sandwich maker. Not used any of these items in ten years. ..had to make sure family member did not see exit of moving in present coffee maker. ...I had aspirations when I moved in of Sunday morning freshly brewed coffee, leisurely papers in bed....with handsome stud muffin :rotfl::rotfl:
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

    Hi all,
On Sunday I got round to the boxes on top of the rafters in the garage.
They were glasses and plates, not used for years!
I asked my nephew who had just moved into a house if he wanted any, then got rid of the rest.also found some plastic containers which stack,so tidied some stuff into those.I will see what isn't used too often and put them up on the rafters.
Maybe the cushions for the outdoor furniture which has now been bagged up,ready for winter.:rotfl:
The weather has been lovely since!!!:rotfl:
Glad you are back on track Iqueen. :j
