I was thinking that it is amazing how this book has captured the imagination of so many people. I can't remember a lot of it now as it was back in the early part of the year that I had it but you are all reminding me of the good bits with this thread.:)Woke up this morning to a message from sister that their dog is really ill and has to be put to sleep. She is very old and has been part of the family for about eighteen years. I have to go and wake kids to them them. Youngest is going to be devastated as she lovingly takes her for walks when they are away and going to be late back from work etc. I'm a little tearful too.
I'm sorry.xxx:(0 -

This reminds me of my nana. She always wore the same dresses that she had made. They were all the same design with two pockets at the bottom of the skirt.
When she died, we found she had 3 wardrobes full of beautiful clothes that she had never worn. All still had their tags on. So sad.0 -
Morning all
I feel bad posting these in the same post
Mavvy so glad your dog has responded well to the medication and is looking and he fully feeling much better, but ouch re the bill!
Tibawo so sorry to read of your sisters dog passing, hugs to you and yours I don't envy you having to tell the children.
Devils advocate that is so true about clothes, when I help mil who's nearly 88 and not in good health go through her wardrobe I found a box full of every possible colour of two styles of damart jumpers "she was saving for best" I took the out of the box and put them on her wardrobe shelf tusche wouldn't let me unbag them 9 months later they are still bagged and sitting on the shelves, she mentioned yesterday she's come across a lovely throw that damart had sent her (to encourage her to order More no doubt!) but that is also being saved for best. So she has a sad looking grey throw on one and complains it looks dreary.SPC~12 ot 124

Morning, Konverts! (At least, it was when I started writing!)
Just caught up on posts... yet again!
You are all doing so well! :j I'm having a BIG push this weekend - thanks to your inspiration. :T
VJsmum: Send DS to me - teenage boys are my forte!
I remember a big row I had with DS when he was 19. He was moody because he couldn't get his Morrisey hair to stand up correctly one day. I had serious money worries, and blew my stack!
Later, I realised that this was probably a very serious worry for him at that age, and apologised. Sometimes it's hard to see what are major crises for our children, when compared with our RL crises.
Good luck, with the Mins on Monday! I avoid those deadline methods of discarding - doing MK at a leisurely pace, is pressure enough! :rotfl:
Choose wisely: Your steam press may only have blown a fuse in the plug, but check it out, or use an RCD between the plug and socket for safety's sake.
uk_american: Ha ha! We both thought the same thing - categorising a category!I think, with seriously cluttered homes this is the only sensible way of dealing with excessive quantities. Several MK categories come under that heading in my home!
maman: I was tempted with a family-pack of mushrooms on Wednesday, in Mr M's - but I resisted, as I already have 2 in my BFL of 'storage solutions'! :j
DevilsAdvocate1: I think hanging onto 'best' can become a problem, as people age, because, on a fixed income, one is never certain of being able to replace things. Also, change = insecurity.
notanewuser: Don't knock it, till you've tried it! Some of MK's ideas may seem silly, but usually they bring unexpected improvements in time, space and daily decisions.
My socks, knicks, nightwear, bras, etc, are all 'folded and filed' (after 8 months), and have made a significant difference to my daily life - as others have also found. Try it, even if it sounds ridiculous - you've nothing to lose, and can always revert, if it doesn't work for you. Nothing is set in stone! :rotfl:*************************************************Yesterday, I kondoed my (70th) birthday in November! I find birthdays sad and stressful, so I'm not doing it this year! I shall go for a meal with a couple of friends. (Some family are not that pleased, but that's not my problem - it's my birthday, and we've not been all together for 10 years!) My MIssion is to be happy and stress-free, all the time! (I've been taking lessons from, mav!)
BTW, does anyone know where jinny has got to? It's nagging me.Needs, NOT wants!

Having just moved house and looking a bit warily at all the bags and boxes of clothes to fold and put away in limited storage, I was delighted to find a clothes folder in a charity shop for £1.75!!
One of these.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MaxUtil-Magic-clothes-folder-x/dp/B007G8MXJ0
At that price they are having a laugh! Having a quick google they can be found for £3-4. I love it! Everything fold to the same size and has actually made folding and putting away clothes into less of a chore.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

DH has left me ......... only for the weekend!! He's on a charity motorbike run tomorrow & its a 'bloke' thing so I am at home joyfully kondoing
I've not got a 'system' at the moment I'm just using the time he's away to fling what I can as he wont notice when he gets back (no I'm not touching his stuff although as ex navy he's neat & tidy most of the time anyway) If he sees what i'm binning, CSing etc he'll say 'What do you want to get rid of that for??' & I don't feel the need to justify myself everytime. I'll post on Monday after he gets back and give you all the lowdown haha

Just having a break :coffee: and came across this thought-provoking article from the Observer 2011.
It might prove a dis-incentive to any Konverts, who tend 'to pick up a few things' from supermarkets' clothing departments and/or Pr1mark!Needs, NOT wants!
