  • Welcome verynewmoneysaver, sounds like you've got your work cut out but have also made a good start. Have you read the book? I few people have managed to get it from the library and a lot of the order lists folding techniques etc can be found on YouTube or Pinterest.

Refilled both ours and mils garden bins, sorted some more bits out for the clothes bank and have a bag of stuff to take over to my niece. Having half hour with my cross stitch and a coffee now before Ds2 gets back from school.

    :) Hello and welcome, verynewmoneysaver.

I got the book from the libraryand it's a funny little charming thing with a strange hold on people. I did find myself wondering at the forebearance of Ma and Pa Kondo for not murdering the young Marie.......

Engineer came late in the afternoon and stayed 5 mins. As I knew, it is a new tank job, which is a full day's work. No possibility of it being done next week so we have it pencilled in for Friday fortnight, to be confirmed by the h'office. I shall have to find some sorting out to do whilst the engineer is in and out of my hall like a cuckoo out of a clock.

Meanwhile, I still have hot water, it's just that some of it is widdling out onto the concrete outside. Handy if you just want to wash your feet, I guess.

As I haven't had time to get to the chazzer today, I did a few other bits whilst waiting, including sorting out the donation bags and adding the gift aid labels. Will go first thing tomorrow, rain or shine, as I need my floor back. Aiming to take the wally-trolley plus a large carrier bag.

All this sorting out is eye-opening about how much time you can waste in a life by having more Stuff than you need. I find myself getting skittish at the prospect of gaining more belongings, even if they're offered free.

Reminds me of one of my late uncles who used to scornfully refer to ornaments as dust gatherers. Not that he'd ever dusted anything in his lefe, but he had the right idea.

Hokay, time for some food, some telephonic catch-ups with a few people, then I think I shall read a book. And then donate it.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Great posts everyone, really enjoying reading them all!

We are planning a tip run this weekend as DH has sorted the shed out and there's loads to go:D . So after moaning to my fellow kondo-ites about DH not picking up the reins, he's up and at it :D Unfotunate that he's started with the shed as I have no interest in the state of that, would rather he did some his categories in the cosy home :)

UK American, love the filing. I didn't find it too bad doing paperwork but I must admit you have inspired a slight re-think. I have neat folders for household bills, warranties etc, and one for work-related and tax stuff but I have kept a few old bills and wage slips etc to remind myself of how little I got paid and how low the utility bills used to be years ago.

Don't get me wrong, I only have a small sample of old bills, not all of them :D However, I think separating those out into their own little historic file makes huge sense - there if i want to refer to them for a laugh and yet not cluttering the current stuff. So, on my 'to do ' list, re-visit paperwork for a few minutes to
separate and re-file. I think this calls for a pretty vintage style file too, just so I can easily distinguish it on the shelf, of course ;)

My wish is to be able to spend a glorious few [STRIKE]months[/STRIKE] weeks just devoted to Kondoing, get it all done, rather than the dribs and drabs that we have to do inbetween RL.

Anyway, off to kondo my straggly hair as it needs cutting and shaping. Out with friends tomorrow in some 'not just for Sunday best' clothes :T only thing that will be kondo'd is a curry (oh, and maybe some alcohol ).

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Today's "Min's game" discards have been

    2 nail varnishes
    1 lip gloss
    1 random cable thing..

I still have 2 nail varnishes JIC

Just in case of what exactly?????

I never wear it, it makes my nails split. I will save them for a future Min's game day.

DS has Kondoed his shirt drawer :T
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Thanks UK American - will look at this when I start and use as my guidelines- I have little motivation atm, having just finished assisting with yarn bombing the museum at which I volunteer!!! At least it means I have kondo'd my stash of odd bits of wool!
Hoping for a productive weekend. - love the Mims game idea and will try to catch up over the weekend with that too.

Just had to post this even though not exactly Kondo. I have been trying very hard to keep kitchen tidy post kondoing. Went in, put dishwasher on and tidied after OH cooked tea.

He has just come into living room with cheese on toast. I went in kitchen to get a drink. Aaaaaaaaggggghhhhh! How can cheese on toast make such a mess. I think I may cry! Or just breathe, finish my drink and then go to bed. Tomorrow is a new Kondo day.
Thanks for being there my fellow kondites.
    Rant over.

We have had a row about the fact that it is non uniform day and he hasn't anything to wear - despite a drawer full of clothes. He doesn't like / won't wear / won't fit into any of those.....

I think that, at last, my DH is sitting up and taking notice of MK.

Unusually he came food shopping with me today and picked up large punnet of mushrooms because 'we'll need these for your tidying up'!!:rotfl:

Used last week's punnet to tidy all the little jars and bottles in the fridge (mustards, horseradish, chilli sauce etc.). I know it's not sensible to keep opening the fridge door but I'm so pleased with it I can't help myself.

3 bags full delivered to CS and vintage lace and needlepoint chair cover washed and line dried today.

Not exactly looking forward to winter as such but I'm storing up projects thanks to MK. So far I have patchwork, cushion covers to make, photos to sort through.....

    Morning all
Been really busy not kondoing.Well maybe a few bits of carp gone. Including the joy giving Bluey Greeny jumper which I wore yesterday as it was freezing but found the sleeves to short so is now going to be washed and put into the chazzer bag :)
Managed to kondo a few logs on to the wood burner ;) Just to check it was working and the flue clear you understand:o

Everyone has been so busy GQ glad you are not flooded and well done on the decorating at your parents. I have done this for my dad and its never easy. He wanted 'Peach' In the bedroom and I refused to paint it that colour as it would have looked dreadful and dreary. As his bedroom has a wonderful Sea view its now a lovely Cream with a bit of Beach hut Blue ;) With a Bleached out wood floor :rotfl:A bit trendy for an 83 year old but he now loves it ;)

My poor dog has had a bad eye infection so he went to the vets he needed his booster and some more tablets he has to take. Came out £172 lighter  Its really shocking how much it costs. But he is much better already so it had to be done.

Off to the village cake sale this morning and then a bit of shopping but only things I need on my list. Need to pick up my Sunglasses (not that I flipping need them at the moment) as I had them fixed rather than splashing out on a new pair as I do have expensive taste in glasses of any type :o

Have a nice day all and enjoy your weekend

Woke up this morning to a message from sister that their dog is really ill and has to be put to sleep. She is very old and has been part of the family for about eighteen years. I have to go and wake kids to them them. Youngest is going to be devastated as she lovingly takes her for walks when they are away and going to be late back from work etc. I'm a little tearful too.

I think that everything planned today re kondoe is justifiably out the window.
