One thing that has struck me, which cropped up early in the year, on MNet - the number of Konverts who are/were teachers! Do we have a 'special' clutter-gene? :(

I think so ! At school I am very neat and tidy - everything labelled put away and in the right place. At home its not the case.:o I hate waste at school,as much as at home and and do hang onto things but can be equally ruthless - my staff have got use to my obsession now:D

GQ just read my post to you that you quoted, I haven't been drinking honest, not sure why autocorrect made me write that lol
:) I just mentally filled in the missing bits and got the gist. Auto-correct/ predictive text is so wierd. I disabled predictive text on my phone as it wasn't coming within a country mile of predicting what I was trying to write.

Am waiting for 8 am as I think I can call from then, see when the engineers can come out to assess the tank. If they say this afternoon, I shall have to postpone as won't be home until about 9.30 tonight.

Last bit of painting to do, then some home hairdressing and a bath. In case I have no hot water for a few days at the flat.

Isn't it lovely to have empty drawers to play with? Such a luxury. Anyone else keep opening empty drawers/ cupboards or kondo'd same and checking that it really is so tidy or so empty? I'm becomjng a space addict.

Having my grey roots kondoed this morning, will take a book to read as once it's finished it will be kondoed to my mum.
I've got a pile of stuff I front of the side board that needs sorting
DD1 gave a bag of clothes for her sisters to go through, both have looked taken a few bits and left the rest, I need to check with DD1 if I can Cs it now, bag of Christmas shopping that needs putting away, my face steamer that DD3 returned now hay fever season is over. A load of stuff to do with quilting and knitting that is part of work in progress but really should be put in cupboard under stairs till I get further along. I also have five binders of instructions for the quilting stuff on the table, I don't need all five out at once so really should find a home for the 4 not being used. Oops and those Christmas penguins and a festive candle are still sitting on the table. I will pull all that back once I'm home from hairdressers

    Have a joyful day all.

A large amount of empty bath/shower/body lotion/shampoo/ handwash/skin care containers washed out and in the re-cycling today (a bit of a weakness of mine keeping them JIC:o) 1 large, 1 small pot and a small pump dispenser kept for re-filling:D:D

Bathroom is far from tidy, but it is a good start.

Ditto maddiemay. I'm going to get rid of all those bottles and jars, too. Goes against the grain, but there will always be more.

Mrs-moneypenny (???) wondered about why African girls and women were less likely to be attacked if wearing underwear. It goes something like this:

Men make money. Men with lots of money are powerful.

Underwear costs a lot of money. A girl/woman wearing underwear means she is under the protection of a wealthy man.

You do not mess with a wealthy and powerful man.

It is not the underwear per se that protects a woman, but the implications of defiling the 'property' of a powerful man.
  • Thank for your explanation of the underwear Fen, I was aware it was something like that but hadn't got the right way of wording it. It makes perfect sense how you have written it.

Hair has been kondoed,(well the grey bits anyway) done a few jobs for mil and kondoed a broken food mixer and a load of broken picture frames for her. Put her garden bin out while I was round so hopefully it will be emptied tomorrow and I can refill it from the pile ready for next collection

So thats my clothes done, make up and toiletries.

I was on my last bottle of perfume with no indication of another coming my way, so for the moment I have gathered up all my empty bottles of perfume and put them on the dressing table (hint, hint), will stay there for a couple of weeks, then thats it - they will be kondoing.

I will have at least one new bottle of perfume within the next two weeks.

Off to Kon Marie my sewing threads, etc, etc. I think I must have around 10 pairs of scissors (Guess) will let you know, when I get round to counting them all.

  • A frayed knot, biggest mistake I made re perfume bottles, I recycled all mine then found out the the Thierry Mugler ones can be refilled as they have screw tops and it's much cheaper to buy that way. So if you have one of those hang on to it. Even if you don't wear it it would probs be possible to sell to a wearer as it would be money saving for them.

Hope you got your boiler sorted GQ.

I love empty drawers but not planning on leaving them that way. I want to use them to make sure everything's away in fitted units/furniture rather than piled on surfaces or in random baskets. Hadn't thought of keeping fabrics in drawers greenbee. I need somewhere for sewing stuff used regularly that's not an overhead cupboard where I have to get a step stool to reach so drawers may be a way forward. Sometimes I need to think outside the box to find new homes for things. It's easy to get into the 'it's always lived there' mindset.

:) Am prepping the Stuff I am taking back home for the wally trolley on the bus. 90% of it is stuff to be rehomed at the city chazzers, the rest is my clothes and toiletries. Looking forward to giving those nice things to the chazzer where I'm gift-aiding. Space gained, useful stuff offered for people who will use it, and money for a good cause, excellent arrangement all round.

I am also going to leave behind a List of Stuff which is to be fetched up to my flat when the car next comes; folding chair, box of candles, tent, bag of tights, c-of-d of cassettes and various other things too unwieldy to travel well. Most of them will be donated or freecycled in the city. Bigger pool of bods wanting stuff makes it better to give it away there.

Painting project now complete and wall-mounted stuff like pix, mirror etc back in situ. Folks pretty darned pleased with it. I did offer to come back later in the month and do some gloss work but they said I shouldn't spend all my leave doing their decorating.

Dammit, will have to do my own gloss work, I guess..........:p

I've spoken to the contractor and they will come tomorrow aft to assess the situation. Could have come this aft but no good to me as presently an hour away, didn't want to leave this morning as have already booked and paid for this evening's coach ticket. Won't make much difference to the outcome as I am sure it's a tank replacement and they won't have enough labour-hours left to book it for a few working days, so will be next week, probably Thurs/ Fri is my best guesstimate.
