Congratulations Dragonette. Are there any magazines or some paperwork that you can go through while sitting up on your bed or in chair with feet up, multi-tasking:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

Ironing/folding done but some more is dry now so I'm doing that instead of putting it in the basket.

We always come to sheringham the week after their carnival so we catch the fireworks and it starts to quiet down again. We came carnival week when the kids were smaller but it got difficult to find somewhere to stay. We were there a couple of weeks ago just me and Dh for the weekend of my birthday/our wedding anni, funnily enough we catch the beer festival by going that weekend.
Just got Ds2 to voluntary kondo 7 pairs of trousers ( they were all too short for him but he actually picked them out and put them on the Cs pile)
I've discovered where the other half of my odd sock pile is, there were two nests of them coiled up under both the boys beds when I changed their bedding. It was like finding snakes nests all curled up together between the beds and the walls keeping each other company while they waited for their partners to show up. They are now all in the washing machine so they can be reunited.
I have about half hours worth of ironing, then the sock pairing (when dry) and every item of clothing in the house is washed and put away
Apart from the bits on the mending pile, I've just remembered themSPC~12 ot 124

Off to a good start today with a serious dent made in the filing cabinet and a bag of shredded paper ready to go out for recycling tomorrow. I reckon that the study will take a week to do fully (not including sorting the laptop, which will be a slow and ongoing process).
Going to put tea on then have a long pampering bath to declutter some of the lotions and potions in sachets.

Enjoy your pampering session Pavlovs_dog, I'm slowly working through my product stash.
I've sorted out the hand sew mending mostly buttons that need replacing so I can do that tonight if we decided to declutter another DVD, and Dh wants to check through his boats so he can decide which ones are coming on holiday (there's a lovely little boating lake in sheringham so he can play with them while I read or knit)SPC~12 ot 124

When I did my clothes I kept a top that I liked and wore a lot last year. I got it out to wear at the weekend and thought "that looks awful on me". Did it really look that awful on me last summer or have I changed shape or something? Is it just me that does this? Anyhow it has gone.
Busy week so I am just keeping on top of the housework, but its getting progressively easier now that I am clearing things off surfaces and either into cupboards or out of the house.
Oh and Mav we have been to Norfolk for our hols for the last two years running but decided to go elsewhere for a change this year. Love it down there.0 -

After breakfast I'm going to print off my kondoing checklist (someone here kindly linked to a pdf version in their signature) and get started. Wish me luck!
I've made myself finish the book this afternoon and I couldn't agree more. Maybe it's a cultural thing and Japanese people would find all this spiritual type stuff easier to accept.
Anyhow that doesn't distract from her principles of tidying which are good. Today I've done the cupboard in the kitchen where all the vinegars/oils/sauces are and rehomed the bits that often sit on the worktop in there. But I don't think I'll be putting the washing up to dry on the verandah in a colander as I don't have one (a verandah that is;)).
I think about the furthest I'd go is to think to myself that an item had done me proud/served its purpose/been given with the best of intentions or whatever and I'll wish joy to whoever buys it from the charity shop.
I've also cleared out a small understairs cupboard of loads of crockery that I absolutely never used. I feel a bit guilty as much of it was inherited but it wasn't antique or a family heirloom just vintage so someone will love it. DH came in when I had it all over the hall and took it to the CS there and then along with some stuff he'd discarded himself.
I have made a note of the order of tidying she recommends but I'd welcome a copy of the checklist if you can point me in the right direction pavlov's dog.:)0 -
