Wet here this morning........'chimney pots at cloud base' as we say. Keep waking at silly o'clock thing about stuff - thats stuff stuff, physical stuff. Not stuff that rattles round in the head..........YNWIM!

I have got to one of those positions again where it all seems insurmountable:( getting rid of sofa yesterday did help as we have been able to put our old sofa into the conservatory and the second 'gifted' sofa into LR where the one that has just gone was - that too was gifted by same friend - same style and colour but smaller and fits better into the space - only taken me 4 months to decide:eek: Going to get it reupholstered as I said before lilac not my colour:D

I seem to have unfinished KM projects lying around - I get sidetracked with day to day things that need attending to. There are a few things that need to go to recycle centre today - so that will be cathartic. I didnt get back to books and have an urge to start on CDs and DVDs - they will all go to CS as I really CBA with trying to get a few pence for them on zapp*r and the like.

iQ - the Welsh language and the politics, passion and emotion that goes with it is a funny old thing. You have to live here, don't you, to 'get it' IYSWIM. Lots of controversy at the moment with county councils having to slash budgets as an awful lot goes on promoting/supporting/propping up the language, call it what you will. Where Welsh is not very strong, there is talk of money going to priority services and Welsh language development is not one................and I can see their point sadly. Both my DDs speak/read/understand but struggle with the written form..........as do many including first language speakers, if my Welsh speaking, teachers of Welsh, colleagues are to be believed. Both my OH and I learnt it but dont use it in any work situations or in any meaningful way really and that's because we have never had to:( DD1 lives in the south of the country and when she went to university she was considered 'unusual' amongst her South Walian student friends, as being able to speak Welsh, because they couldnt!

Having been up 3 hours I think I may just wander back to bed with a book for a bit. Forecast says it may brighten up by 9:p

I didn't wake until 9pm - surprising really, as I sleep with undrawn curtains, and even the Sunday Market, in the field across the road, didn't wake me with their setting up at silly o'clock! :D Lovely and sunny here at the moment. I love God's Own - but then, my ancestors are Scottish Celts! ;)

I have same problem with kondoing.

I have recognised that an important lesson we learn from MK is that intent focus is essential. Small forays 'off piste' are OK, but, when we fully concentrate on any single task, we get it done completely and quickly. Multi-tasking is a gift to us females, but sometimes it is better to focus on one at a time! ;)

And, no, I haven't 'got back to books' yet, either! :o

The Welsh language question is difficult - it certainly would be easier if the English language didn't have parity. I think other larger countries are going to face some of the problems into the future.

I taught in England and found the same problem with written English - the standard is appalling! :( I'm quite surprised at your daughter's experience in S Wales, although S wales is more Anlicised. Apparently, I have been told by neighbours (just south of the Dyfi) that Welsh people who don't speak the language are disliked more than the English! :rotfl:I]To OPs, that is based on Welsh History![/I

Yesterday, I went 'off piste' low-carbwise (a rare diversion) and baked coconut pyramids. I didn't manage to finish kondoing them, so another sugar-rush today! And, mav, I don't care either!

I also revisited the bathroom cabinet - more carp in the bin! I think it's time I tipped out the top drawer of my bedroom COD - full of carp - hair curlers (rags are better) and other komono. The other 2 drawers are kondoed and still neat. :)

Not sure if I ground to a bit of a standstill. I thought a week off work would mean progress but I've done so much with the kiddies I've barely had time for laundry :o

I'm still mindful of the end game, though. And flinging useless bits as I come across them. The dining room table is covered in paper - kids artwork from this last school year. They are meant to be doing scrapbooks but we are not making much progress. So this afternoon I will edit / sort the piles to make it more manageable.

Stil loving the clothing situation though. So much easier to choose what to wear :T

Nothing wrong with that at all! The clock is counting down. The best gift to our children is Time! The kondoing can wait. ;)

iQueen I'm assuming that you mean 9am! Unless you're still sleeping... :p

• I've been Kondoing with the kids this morning! Well, a bit of de-cluttering from my youngest 2 and a bit of kondoing and sorting by me and my eldest!

Have managed to accumulate 7 bags for the charity shop so far!
My bedroom is as done as it can be, as is the boys room clothes-wise. It's not quite the same asking a 4 year old and an 8 year old if they can hold something / look at it and see if it makes them feel happy when it's one of their games, toys or teddies - of course they say yes and want to hoard as many lego dvds as possible lol! So I have been practical in their room, and managed to extract a few bits I know they're not fussed about, but every little helps.
My 10 going on 16 year old daughter has things in her small room I did not know she still had, and we managed to sort out clothes, hairclips and toys, and she passed me one ornament / teddy thing and said that she didn't want it as it didn't mean anything to her, but someone else may want it! Result!

I too have the plastic cupboard in the kitchen to do and I know I have way too many boxes, so that might be this afternoons job. Just need to get a shower first and finish the bathroom - just about done in there, only the sideboard to check and then I will make a cup of tea.

Hope everyone has a lovely day today.

I have ground to a bit of a standstill just, not done much kondoing this week at all. Today a load of old plastic coat-hangers are going plus some bedding. Planning to get started with downstairs books next week or maybe do the kitchen first. Kitchen is currently being painted and new flooring due to go down on 11th Aug so I will probably do that first.

I am loving the clothes now too. I have just finished ironing and putting underwear back into the newly kondoed drawer feels great. I looks so good all neatly folded in vertical rows.
• Has anyone figured out an effective way to store coats? Mine take up so much space and endanger the rail in the wardrobe.

I have the ones we use most for the season on pegs in a cupboard downstairs. Out of season ones either hung in wardrobes or in a box on top.

Have you discarded what doesn't bring you joy? ;)
I found it much easier when I realised I didn't actually want most of the jackets I'd kept for whatever reason...

I normally store out of season heavy/thick coats in vacuum bags and stash them away in the eaves (dry and vermin free so far), but for some reason this year I did not get around to it and they are driving me mad taking up too much space and stopping the sliding door closing. Note to self- could do better:o

A question for you advanced Kondo-ers please.

Above the hanging rail in the fitted wardrobes, there are 2 shelves above, the top one is not reachable unless using steps, and the back of the lower one needs tip toes or a handystep. Wardrobes are to ceiling height.

If I fold things vertically on either, there will still be room at the back for other stuff (ie useful, JOYOUS, but rarely needed stuff), I reckon an A4 paper box stored side on is about the depth of room at the back.

Currently it is wasted space full of clothes I've not seen for 4 years.

I did consider moving the hanging rail up a notch and having a shelf underneath, but due to the fixings, this is not an option.

Do you reckon out of season clothes at the back, and then a switch around in autumn?

I'm sure I'm not the only UK person with a ceiling high wardrobe with this dilemma.

Realistically the top shelf is useless without the step ladder or maybe a chair.

Solutions/bright ideas gratefully received.
