"Reminds me of a time when I worked with some people. I'd get myself up, drive for an hour to get to the other party's house, to go with them to various places in their van. Bearing in mind I'd had to be up and out long before them, I'd find this couple in a muddle every darned time I arrived. You'd just about get them ready to leave and they'd have lost their van's keys and or their house keys.

Cue lots of shouting at each other about who'd last had them, running up and down stairs, ransacking multiple bags, pockets in several jackets, the dresser, the sofa, the drawers. All very acrimoniously, with their kid and their dog getting stressed. Eventually, ususally after 10-15 mins, the keys would be found and we'd settle in their van in an atmosphere of seething resentment between the couple.

After the nth episode of this, I tentatively suggested how about they put a board with cuphooks up on the wall and hang the keys up when they came in? Oh, we tried that, the woman cried, But no one could remember to hang them up!" - GreyQueen

We have 2 hooks on the stairwell, hidden from view, where we are supposed to hang our car keys. Mine are always there, my dh's are there most of the time. My feelings related to this simple storing solution: if he can't be bothered to hang them where they belong, I can't be bothered to be looking for them. That may sound very unkind, but I think it's very rude of people to insist on wasting my time and energy, when 2 seconds of their own would not have created the problem in the first place!

I have found that this 'tough love' does have the desired effect, and will add that, when something is genuinely mislaid, I will help look. But I refuse to be the designated searcher/finder in our house!

I don't want to be 'summer':( I have just seen someone on TV wearing pale blue and it looks so drab and boring:rotfl: I will have to have another look at the summer colours as I am sure there are some bright colours (I hope so!)

Third post in a row, sorry!

A word of advice: the Kondo categories can be flexible as you progress. Meaning: when first you kondo many small categories like vests, sleeveless tops, etc., you may later on find that you wear all your spaghetti tops as vests in winter. So, although they were 2 categories to begin with, they merge to 1 later on. Likewise with e.g. travel size shampoo and conditioner. When you have many, they are two separate categories, but as you use them up, they will fit into one box, labelled 'travel size hair care', so you can kondo the other box.

A timely post there siebrie, I'm just starting to think about holiday toiletries and am planning to take lots of the little bottles of shampoo conditioner, shower stuff etc so that they can be used up and recycled where we are rather than taking big full bottles and brining half home.

Mil wasn't happy when I went round the bus company have been rather sneaky and used a recent bit of roadworks to take her regular bus route off permanently.
She is in her late 80s and doesn't walk well so because of regular health checks and ongoing problems she has to go to the Drs most weeks, she catches the bus and I walk and meet her there. For the last few weeks the bus has done a loop at the end of her road and doesn't now go down to the Drs or the shops. We have a LOT of elderly people on our estate so she won't be the only one who uses this bus route. Anyway I commented that we went tesco the last couple of weekends and the is no road closures or diversions still in place. She rang up to check when bus is back and was told that it's been terminated as its not a profitable route. I can see why anyone fit and healthy can walk it in the 5 mins they'd be waiting at the bus stop so the majority of passengers are going to be seniors with free passes. Still a bit unfair that they've just removed it with no warning she will now have to pay £3 each way for a taxi. I did feel sorry for the person she was on the phone to as it wasn't their idea to change the route but they got Mrs angrys full rant!

I just love the humour on here - I'm high on endorphins! A good laugh really sets me up for the day! Thanks! :)

Got rid of the excess cardboard boxes yesterday into recycling bag, collected today. Made a less than enthusiastic attempt at my to-do list, because I was expecting one of my daughters to visit this weekend, but got a text to say she couldn't make it after all. Bit deflated, mainly because it was a text. (One of my pet bug-bears! ;))

It also didn't help at all, that I couldn't top-up my phone yesterday - no signal at home, number not recognised online. What are these companies like - no way of contacting customer service by email, or landline and the local shop couldn't do anything!

So, I spent several hours yesterday, and today, in a futile attempt to get in contact with Everything All-over-the-shop. I did find a landline number for them, in the end... "Press 4 to speak to someone"... which I did... and received a message telling me to ring Customer Services on a mobile number! Oh, yes, with the price of landline to mobile calls? Wish I could afford to - we all know how long it takes to contact most C Services.:mad::mad:

I've kondo all the items on my Am@azon Wishlist, bar 2. :D I reduced my eBay Watch List by over half - it's mainly used as a pseudo wish list, anyway. :o I already weed my emails and empty my Trash and Spam boxes daily. :A

Still need to vacuum-pack the duvets. Will do that, after I've run a couple of errands.

Drusilla, I think having a 'good poke at some of my (less joyful) socks', might boost my day! :rotfl:

I think I'm going to kondo the tupperware cupboard today. We haven't been using it much since I changed how I shop/cook for food. The only leftovers we tend to have now are things like stew and chilli (always seems to make at least 4 portions, no matter how far back I cut it!) and I like storing them in bags rather than tubs now. So I think most of it can go, or be used around the house as drawer dividers. I do love a good drawer divider. :D

I'm a summer and you should actually suit ALL blues. So pick one that you love (teal for me) and rock it! ;)

Bit in Red Julie what type of cats ? Real cats or like china Birthday presents Christmas presents, and such like, because in this world if you show one bit of liking towards any animal Bird,Fish or Chickens ( I know this one well) You will be inundated with the damn things for evermore :mad::mad:

My tip and it works for me is to say you hate Cats ,Dogs, Chickens,Cute puppies,Cute kittens, Ducks ,Geese, owls (thats a big one plenty of owl carp about ;)) Butterflies,Dragon flies, Then go down the flower route you hate all of them. Make this perfectly clear over and over and over again ;) And be prepared to still keep getting the bl**dy things year after year. Chicken tray anyone ? :rotfl:
Sorry Julie if its real cats :)If not put this plan into place as soon as possible as it really will be never ending.

So please can you explain the 'cat' thing as we need to know why you mentioned that. As thats going to bring you to where to go next and how to go about it :) But cats are the clue here ;)

    Mav x

edited to say dont forget you also hate fairies (thats a huge section) Cherubs and horses ! how the hell can I forget that one.I still have that shirehorse in the garage

I'll add RABBITS!! I remember as a child, I had one tiny cuddly bunny toy that I particularly loved. So everyone around me seemed to think that must mean I'd want anything rabbit related. And so the collection bred like, well, bunnies! :p

I also like real cats, people seem to keep giving me cat things. So far it's only cards (that get recycled [STRIKE]immediately[/STRIKE] after an appropriate period of time) but I'm sure someone will try and sneak in an ornament at some point.

Oh goodness Judi, you reminded me that during my 'electrical and gadget' clear out I found loads of floppy discs with goodness knows what on them - pictures and old things like my CV on I recall. I would like to get these off and stored onto a hard drive, but of course I don't have a floppy disc reader - do I buy one just to do this???

Pardon the delurk, an external USB floppy disk drive will cost around £5-6 delivered from ebay, a data transfer service is likely to charge 50p per disk - principally you are paying for the time taken to do the job. It really is worth just buying a drive and copying them yourself, as you would still have to sort the files and organise your storage.

Just nipped over neighbours with a big veg box full of glasses from the attic, her DD and a friend make a bit of money for themselves decorating them with glitter and special stickers and selling them on eblay so it saved me taking them to the CS I've got enough for tomorrow's run there.
Got a case down that we don't need/want and a couple of cuddly toys that are as new but not joyful so they can be added to tomorrow's run.
Also got down a solar lantern to replace the one at the cemetery that no longer glows. So the box can go as well.
A bag of wool was what I actually went up for, I've found a pattern on tinterweb and am hoping to knot one of those baby sacks for a Christmas baby so will be kondoed eventually.

Thank you for the helpful delurk nuratha. Feel free to stay now you've broken the ice and posted.

I'l take a look. I tend to use Amzn and they were £20 on there!! I've never trusted myself to have an eBay account but sister has one! Data transfer service sounds intriguing....off to G@@gle that, thanks. Who knew such things existed. At least that way I'm not then stuck with a floppy disc reader to get rid of!!!
£8.50 better off this afternoon after closing a bank account! Much fussing around by the cashier as the bank had labelled it dormant so beware folks! Supposed I could use that to get floppy disc reader
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!
