I loved the school skirts my mum made me, though not the knitted cardy - it was not nearly so flattering! By high school I was wearing band hoodies during lessons :D

Hope the dentists goes well GQ :) and yes, the hair and car decisions are a direct result of the ME reducing my income. It's also so so much easier

Eta- another 2 bags for life off to the CS yest, fourth bin bag of rag started. I've started a big bag of unopened toiletries to give to women's aid soon. It's getting a lot easier to keep up with the housework, despite the atrocious energy levels this past week :)

GQ: Hope you're taking it easy this afternoon, and that your treatment wasn't too traumatic. Get well soon. :)

Dragonette: Congratulations on the streamlining of your life (and hair!) ;)

Everyone else: Great posts about childhood clothes and school uniforms! Also, well done to all of you, who have been ploughing on with kondoing.

I remember the 'one-and-only' school coat, too - gaberdine coat with buttoned-down hood to keep it neat, from designated supplier (Co-op for me too), ankle length at 11 and ludicrous by 16! :rotfl: Also, one barathea blazer for the whole period. My mother washed mine once and the bald areas turned from bottle green to grey - still had to wear it, but I wasn't alone in a shabby blazer. :(

BBE 2002/06 food colourings or flavourings anyone?

I would be OK with them.................:o But if you come across any more they are very useful in schools who are making their own playdough - I get OOD stuff like this from friends to make playdough/slime/gloop/etc for my class:)

I had the same gaberdine:eek: By the time I got to 16 it had 5 lines around hem and sleeves where it had been let down every year - I was very thankful that 6th form was a different uniform! However we were all in the same boat other and a handful of rather snooty girls who had a new coat every year!

I've actually found the dining room table!! It was buried under a pile of books mags knitting and sewing projects. It now has a candle a vase of flowers and the box containing the remains of my cake (which will be finished off tonight) on it. another mag of paper has gone out for recycling.

Never thought of the colourings for playdough, but there was only a tiny bit in each the vanilla didn't smell at all so was definitely no use. (and I wouldn't want the playdough to smell Like it was edible-but I think the salt taste would stop them in their tracks) will remember about the colourings next time thanks for the heads up.

Age is just a number to me... I have a larger plastic tub of black peppercorns, they look, smell, and taste fine, dated BBF 1993. Sadly, this morning I chucked out some Fenugreek from 1983 - I had never used it. It was fine and smelled as lovely as the day I stocked up on basic Indian spices (thanks Madhur Jaffrey!) :D

I'm always eating OOD food - so long as it is thoroughly cooked. :rotfl:

I am looking for a dress. Maybe I should try this once Polyester and viscose [STRIKE]are out of the question, because they make me sweat - 80% of dresses are out of the question[/STRIKE]; I am 6ft tall, so short dresses [STRIKE]are out, too (unless [/STRIKE]can be worn as a tunic with leggings[STRIKE])[/STRIKE]; my bust is small, but my hips are wide, so most shaped dresses are [STRIKE]out[/STRIKE] okay-ish; I don't like black in a summer dress, but that's all there is, so I'd better pick one, they must be fashionable or something

...at which point would you have thought 'that dress'll do'? I'm really aiming to have only stuff I truly love.

Catching up and reading about clothes has made me want to look at our clothes again.......was struggling to know where to kickstart the declutter programme and now I seem to have found it...........only 5/6 weeks left to finish it:eek:
