mav, check this out - I'm sure you could make something out of your new past-time! :rotfl:
iTwin I love it poor old Price JoeI hope the Rev enjoys the circus :rotfl:Thank you it made my morning even more joyful
Mrs MP Thank you for putting me up as a example of the kondo factor :rotfl:I dont intend to let you down
You will all have down days where you think 'this isnt going to work for me' But it will little by little you will find yourself just finding you have more good days than bad days. Things will click in to place as you kondo your way along without thinking about it.Things that you never even noticed before will start to spark joy (in maries words) and you will think how the hell did I not notice that
As posts have said tidying as you see it putting laundry away folded as soon as its dried. Not leaving clothes on the floor not being able to sit down if you know somethings not where it is supposed to be. Being able to find something you need as you know it has its place and lives there now.
Getting ready quicker finding yourself with a bit of spare time to just sit ! Enjoying coming home as everything looks fresher somehow
Any of these things above show you are on your way and will get there.:)
We are all coming on in leaps and bounds (even if you dont know it yet)
Laughing more is a big one and just having more fun. Making difficult situations lighter somehow.
I do not know how this works I really havent got a clueBut I for one will never go backwards and if I ever wake up one morning and feel down. I will read the book all over again and start from scratch again
I do not want to lose this feeling and zest for life ever

I've just thrown away a rather expensive bottle of my sons mouth wash! I've been buying him this one for quite a while it's one specifically designed for children. ( ok hes15 so could use an adult one but I've stuck with this as he says it's nice) anyway ran out of ny mouthwash so borrowed a bit of his. On my life I have never tasted anything so sweet an sickly in all my days I have to brush my teeth again to get rid of the taste plus the fact I didn't want to think of that in my mouth all night. Just looked at the ingredients sucralose is high up in there. I know any thing ending in ose is fake sugar and the sucra should have given me a hint if I'd looked before. Looks it up on a nhs website it is safe and is used in a lot of dental products but it is 650 times sweeter than sugar!!!!!
He can have the minty fresh one we use in future at least it makes you feel like your mouth has been cleaned.SPC~12 ot 124

Good morning.
Yesterday's progress report. Four banana boxes of old toys have gone via freegle:j.
Three bags of old textiles and a bag of papers to the HWRC, which is only 1 mile away and close to where I delivered the toys.
It really does feel good to see some space in the loft, the floor is almost clear in the centre and there is a couple of free shelves on one of the 8 bookcases up there
There is still a chest of drawers plus two wardrobes that have not yet been looked at, suitcases and several old Ali baba laundry baskets full of stuff. To be fair, most of the contents I hope will be my fabric stash and costumes and dressing up outfits that have been made over the last 30 years and will be a separate category at or near the end.
Having just thought about this as I typed, some large fabric pieces came into my mind. I know I will never use them. Perhaps if I could find them easily they could make a speedy exit leaving space for sorting the good stuff. Oh, I really want to do this right now, but looking after my 2 year old GD today.

Two big bagfuls of misc Stuff to the chazzer, one of which inc a half-a-carrier of clean but worn out textiles, clearly labelled as suitable for rag only; my chazzer can sell this stuff on. It's better that it go to serve a second purpose rather than being landfilled.
It's such a good feeling to get rid of Stuff! I also cruised the bookshelves in my wall unit and pulled out one more book which went with the bags and price-checked another online and it's worth my brother's time to sell it.
I am positively itching to do more decluttering, but have reached the point with many items that they will be used until the end of their natural life and then the overall inventory of belongings will be much smaller.
I had a fast browse around 4 charity shops as I passed by couldn't muster any enthusiasm for buying things. I guess the reality of handling all your Stuff quite recently is that you become very aware of how much you already have and how little you need.
Oh, and the spent ink cartridge went to the charity shop which recycles them, so one fewer item cluttering up the joint.
Just going to bake bread, pack up and head out for the rest of the day.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thanks for the reminder about ink cartridges GQ I've got a prepaid envelope somewhere and I know there are two empty cartridges that need sending off to be recycled.
Threw away a carrier bag of junk of the drive, and kondoed lots of overgrowth from some shrubs and brambles.
Going to pop round a neighbour's now and kondo a bottle and card to them.SPC~12 ot 124

Re unjoyful toiletries etc
I had a very large stash of toiletries and make up when starting this. I actually KM-d my make up before I'd heard of KM - one morning over the Xmas hols I sat and went through every single item, trying out the colours of things I was unsure about. Quite a lot got binned. Unused unjoyful duplicate items were offered to teenage DD and then donated to charity.
Toiletries - I realised that I had enough body moisturiser to last for about 5 years (not an exaggeration) so I donated any unused ones which I really didn't like the smell/ texture of (having tried a duplicate) and binned others of that ilk. I will use any shower gel, whether I like it or not (although if it is really unpleasant I will get OH to use it up) I also refilled the liquid soap bottles with unloved bodywash/ bubble bath - pretty similar stuff, after all. And I even refilled one with some teatree and mint shampoo which I didn't like as shampoo, but which was fine as handwash.
I have since jettisoned further make up, used up all my 'so-so' perfumes (usually sample sizes) so now only have 2 joyful perfumes and am using up expensive bubble bath as shower gelI keep all my spares in a c-o-d in my bathroom (DD has her spares in her bathroom and the boys have some spares in their bathroom) - which was so full that I also had to keep boxes and boxes of stuff in the room too. I am now pleased to say that it now all fits in the c-o-d (excluding spare loo rolls) and that there is some space beginning to appear in there too.
What the point of this post is, is that you can repurpose some items (I'm of the opinion that soap is soap is soap in the main) so shampoo can become shower gel if it's not nice on your hair (or I used a small bottle of apple shampoo as washing up liquid), unjoyful smelling shower gel (for me that's ocean type scents) can be handwash - or I've even used them in the washing machine for clothes washing (small amounts only and I add them to a mug of water to ensure they are diluted ok) IT all helps to use it up and keep costs down. And if you have some fancy brands of stuff which you won't use, check out the prices on ebay - you could sell it and perhaps replace with cheaper yet more joyful stuff which you will use - and may even make a few £ extra along the way xI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Well another joyful day had by me and doing something I did find most unjoyful before kondo.
I had to take a friend to hospital to have a small but not nice toenail offI hate driving in busy places and the hospital is over 50 miles away and in a busy city  and the other side of the city from us
I have never been there before and my sense of direction is carp
Normally I would have been so stressed once I said I would do it and looking for every excuse in the book not to take her. I would have been worried for the 2 weeks before and dreaded it.
But today I was so calm and just did it and didnt care  Laughed when I missed the turnings or got stuck in traffic I didnt careLeft in plenty of time which was a miricle in its self
Had to wait for her for ages and thought to myself 'does it matter' what time you get back its hardly life and death :rotfl:
When the doctor said I had to get the car from the carpark and park in front of the main doors to collect her. I would have had a heart attack normally as it was so busy and manic outside there when we went in and I didnt know how to get thereBut I did it and didnt even worry about it
When my friend got in the car she said I was so worried you wouldnt be able to find your way as I know what you are like;) But I was waiting before she even got out
I am so pleased with myself and marie as kondoing has got me here. Sounds so stupid as I used to drive round London all the time but just dont do that type of driving now and havent done for yearsI have a little car and a tank of petrol £40 lasts me about 8-10 weeks :rotfl:Thats how little I do now
So thank you Marie I am over the fear of driving in the big bad city and will be making that journey more often and will leave the county more often
Had to share as the difference in me today was nothing short of amazing and it can only be down to one thing (and we know what that is ) So Wooo is all I can say
