Well done, Mummysroyof3, on getting your degree! :j
Thank you everyone for your good wishes for today... unfortunately, I must have been unclear...Today was just a meeting with the Oculoplastic Surgeon! (The NHS has moved very fast this week, but could not complete a 7 day miracle!) :rotfl:
Then of course, it was too good to be true anyway!
The Big Cheese was also Vintage! He apparently expected me to keep quiet, as he spoke about 'her' and 'she' to his colleague, as if I was not present. When I tried to ask a question, he made a sarcastic remark; and dismissed my question about disfigurement.
When I, (very politely), tried to explain that I needed more information, he told the Opthalmic surgeon "I don't think this patient is for me." I said "I agree!" as he walked out of the room.
The shocked younger surgeon, proceeded to supply all the information that I had asked for, and wrote down his name, telling me to just get in touch if I had any other queries. He has put me on his emergency list and expects to operate within 6 weeks.
On the way out, I picked up a leaflet on 'how to complain' about the Big Cheese!
I don't blame you for complaining, he sounds very rude and arrogant!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

That's disgraceful! The colleague should also be flagging that type of behaviour up...Bossymoo

Good for you iqueen - I've also encountered a consultant with that attitude. Makes you wonder why they bother with us mere mortals. Your young surgeon sounds much more empathic.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

iQueen How embarrassing it must have been for the younger surgeon! You are well within your rights to complain as it seems to me that 'The Big Cheese' is still stuck in the past when patients didn't ask doctors questions and took everything they said as gospel.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Bloomin' cheek, iQueen!
A couple of years ago I had a mole removed. From GP appt to having the thing cut out was 11 days! Fingers crossed for a speedy appt for you.0 -
That's appalling - I didn't think those attitudes still existed. Hope you get a speedy appointment, and get your complaint in the post quick!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

What's the old joke? What's the difference between God and a consultant?
God doesn't think he's a consultant
<<fanfare>>
I have read the book
:T
<<takes bow >>
:rotfl:
It didn't tell me much that I haven't read here but I am glad to have done it. It was nagging away at me and things do make more sense now. Even some of the more woo woo stuff
I walk into the house and yell "mummy's home". Even if it's empty. if you put the emphasis on the "home" then it makes even more sense. Even the emptying your handbag thing makes some sense now, my handbag is a mass of tissues, receipts and associated carp as is my work bag. My train of thought went something like this
"Hmm, that does make sense. Get rid of the clutter on a daily basis, store receipts somewhere so I cn find and check them off when the statement arrives, charge phone, etc. then I could store handbag somewhere other than kitchen floor. But where? Oh there is that unit in the hall that is full of hats and gloves and scarves. They don't need to be there all year round, and I expect that they could do with Kondoing. But I don't much like that unit, it is orange pine and some handles are missing. Yes but if you paint it and put new knobs on it, it would lift that area of the hall. Maybe even a nice plant on top which would stop people just dumping stuff there. Work bag could go there too, keys in a drawer in a plastic pot, then you wouldn't keep losing your keys".
I think I have been Konverted all over againI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Love it VJsmum. :rotfl: Yes I have painted a few things and it has lifted the area. I have also 'placed' not dumped select items on top so carp cant be put there:) It has worked well

I was always told that one as 'doctor'I come from a medical family... my mother and I mutter it regularly ... I find it quite handy at work when dealing with clients who work in the medical sector
I was once asked by a registrar what I was doing in the clinic as 'you don't have cancer'. I suggested that he read my notes and find out...
My GP put in a compliant for me as she was horrified, and now I only see the consultant who knows why I'm there.0
