  • Well done Mummysroyof3! Now what are you going to do with all your course notes ... :rotfl:

The degree certificate is just a token of what you've achieved, the intangible benefits must be huge, a good example of why Stuff isn't as important as what we do, think and say. Congratulations on your degree.

After my 3 bin bags full of clothes gone yesterday I have another 2 to go today :T this is all clothes shoes and handbags. I also have some stuff that can only be seen by a bin :rotfl:

I still have quite a lot of clothes - but it's all stuff I really like. I'm going to store some of the out of season things until October, but already I ca see what I have and look at actually using it.

As such today I'm wearing a dress that hasn't been worn before, I'm not saving it for my holidays as I want to get use out of it this summer, and we don't go till the end of August.

Are we "allowed" to still have a good amount of clothes? As long as we love them and care for them? I like variety so although I'm happy to minimalist elsewhere I like to have lots of nice choices in my wardrobe! :D

It's very true that this process prompts a lot of thinking about who you are. I have realised that I get enormous pleasure from tackling something new and getting to a level of competence in it but never go on to be expert. And I have decided that that is OK, it's remnants of puritanism that makes me feel guilty about losing interest for something new. It's not as if my livelihood depends on it

However I tend to circle round and come back to discarded interests some time later and have another burst of enthusiasm - eg sewing or cake decorating, both of which I am quite good at but by no means expert. A lot of these interests require quite a lot of stuff

When I am in one of the phases where I have lost interest the equipment and stash doesn't bring me joy. But when I do rediscover it, I get nice warm feelings from revisiting my hoards and using them again.

Had I been doing a strict MK approach, I would have asked myself if the stuff brought me joy and the honest answer at that time would have been no. But knowing myself a bit better makes me loathe to get rid of things that may just be in a 'down' period
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Congrats indeed and well done Mummysroyof3

best wishes to iQueen, is it today you have the eyelid proceedure?

bossymoo, so long as you can easily access the clothes, they look good and they bring you joy, why the heck not have quite a few!! :D

As others have said on here, a la MK, don't save things for best. If you love the item/ garment/special treat, use it and feel the joy.

I finally managed to get my large broom cupboard sorted out, neat, with everything easily accessible, now the new boiler's in. Had to re-arrange due to changes to pipework etc but using some of those undershelf baskets, and a few nails for hanging pans, my seive etc, I have fitted everything in that I want. Of course i took the opportunity to discard a few items that no longer brought me joy!

Kondo'd some weeds from my tiny garden, blimey it was hot out there even at 9am, can't wait to sit out in the sun later. Have to get rid of grease mark on DH's trousers and a few other jobs before then. Was hoping to take it easy as I have treated myself to a day off paid work but MK is calling again.... so will Kotter today, some bits of paperwork collected throughout the week to file, washing to put away, and then plan a summery dinner including new potatoes and lovely nectarines that are just ripening perfectly (not on same plate, you understand!).

Have a great day everyone and let's hope the tennis is superb! :T

    M

Kondo'd an old leaky tap from kitchen simk this morning, replaced by a lovely one that's brushed steel rather than chrome. I love it:D *wanders off to look up definition of easily pleased*
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

iQueen, thinking of you today. Hope all goes well.

    Congratulations mummyroys.

Bossymoo you can have as many or as few as you wish and have space to comfortably store. Try to wear as great a variety of them as you can over the next few weeks as you may find that some of them give more joy than others, and you'll let go of a few more.

Been working away at the paperwork over the last few days and have managed to empty a box and get rid of some other boxes off a shelf. More boxes to go through and both the study and living room still look very cluttered - in fact they don't look any better at all despite the shredder working overtime and recycling bin being full every fortnight. Being very strict with what the postman brings too, so it's not that I'm collecting more to replace what has gone. One day, one day soon it just has to start looking better!

SuperSaver – I’ll google the title and see if the local library has it.

TattyCath – the GP gave me something for the night sweats which is fairly effective but doesn’t stop the sleeplessness. It takes forever to nod off and then sleep/wake all night. Do you know what’s in the spray your friend makes for you? I know a good herbalist in the nearest big town and will try anything! SilvaSava - the Starflower sounds worth a try too.

Thanks GreyQueen – It may not be getting worse but it was pretty bad to start with! I had terrible pain for ten years before finally getting the necessary surgery to replace a badly damaged shoulder joint. Thankfully it’s so much better that I only have the normal arthritic aches and pains to deal with but – on top of sleepless nights and lack of energy – it’s wearying. I’m so glad you mentioned night terrors – I thought it was just me! They’re horrible and so realistic.
MavvyMoo agree with you on reading the book. Although the forum got my interest in the subject, it wasn’t till I read the book that I really got a feeling for it. And re-reading it helped too as there were quite a few bits that didn’t sink in properly (I did use YouTube for help with the folding though as that wasn’t as obvious at first.)

Sorry for the long reply but it's such a help coming on here and after all this advice I'm going to hold my chin up, straighten my back and do my absolute best to Kondo these b***dy peri-menopause symptoms!!

I don't know what is in the spray. But I can pm you her details if you would like. She does mail order-she doesn't live near me so she posted mine out.
