What's the old joke? What's the difference between God and a consultant?
God doesn't think he's a consultant
<<fanfare>>
Not heard that before! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Hilarious!
I made the mistake of telling the consultant that I had never heard of BCC, 'till I looked it up on Monday evening'.
He then made the mistake of assuming that I was a 'self-diagnosing Internet surfer'! He said 'you Googled it?' I agreed. (Actually, I had Googled 'rodent ulcer'.) He then said 'and you will be doing the operation yourself?' I had to ask him to repeat that, because I thought I'd mis-heard! When he did repeat it, I gave him a quizzical smile, and said 'No, I expect that to be done by someone with expertise in surgery!'
Neither the Consultant, nor his younger colleague are aware that I am a qualified Information Professional, with a PG Dip in Information Science.
Do I need to have my qualifications tattooed on my forehead, in order to be treated with the respect due to any patient/client??? :undecided
Fear not, I shall be lodging a formal complaint, in the interests of all those people who are too intimidated to ask for information, from Health Professionals.Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j

Well done IQueen - so many people are afraid to complain and will just put up with terrible treatment. What a (was going to use a certain word but it would require too many asterixes!!) stupid man. Definitely old school - where he ought to return and possibly learn some manners!Looking ahead0

Words fail me. He obviously prefers his patients to remain in ignorance about their condition because HE likes to control the knowledge.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

Well excitment here I have had another sales call.Just a very short one from StaceyWho can save me millions of £s a year on my electric bills

Her manager will look in to it and if I am very very very lucky he will phone me back
So whats the bet I am going to be very very lucky and get a call back Monday.
Dont know who is going to be more lucky either me or him and I place the bet on me :rotfl:So no phone calls on Monday for you lot as Ive got him all to myselfLets see how long for

Just popped in with news of my kondoing - I think I am turning into Bree Vandercamp as I'm sat here with a pinny on (have taken off my rubber gloves) having decided to sort out the plastic pots in a plastic box on top of the fridge. On the way it became obvious that I would have to sort out the drawer of plastic pots and also the drawer above it full of cooking carp. I now have one beautiful drawer of plastic pots, one beautiful drawer of useful cookery items and a pretty plastic box (rescued from the paper kondoing) sat atop the fridge freezer (its just got a few bits in I couldn't bear to part with but didn't want cluttering up my lovely drawers - kitchen drawers you understand) :rotfl:
I've also got to join in the talk about the ignorant consultant. It scares me that patients (who are let's face it already worried and vulnerable as they are facing treatment and the unknown) have to meet up with idiots like this. If the attitude is so out of date, it makes me question the medical expertise - medical expertise changes almost on a daily basis as the knowledge they were trained with is most certainly considered wrong these days. Together with the way patients were treated. I've started to pull together a medical file - I'm not sure why I rely on someone else to keep my records. My father in law takes his with him - I'd love to see that consultant and him in room together :T
Well done for sticking up for yourself, please complain as the next patient may not be able to. They are really letting the rest of the healthcare professionals down.
ps Susan, hope the book was okay - wow you got it on kindle - I am truly amazed, well done and thanks for letting me knowOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Well, Konverts I think I may have reached ‘tipping point’. I began this process four months ago, and I remember thinking after the clothes that it surely wouldn’t take long to finish the rest :rotfl: I have now finished ….. the upstairs rooms! I’ve been doing categories not rooms, but a lot of things (bedding, clothes, toiletries, office stuff) naturally fell into the bedroom and bathroom areas.
There is nothing on the floor except furniture. There is nothing on the spare bed except the spare duvet and pillows, neatly covered (and the cat!). Last night I realised at midnight that I hadn’t remade my bed after stripping it. No problem – the clean set is all neatly folded into one pillowcase in the airing cupboard, and I was able to make the bed in minutes using the ‘burrito’ method. The bathroom is sparkly clean because now I’ve got rid of all the unnecessary bottles it takes minutes to swish-and-swipe. Yes, there are still a couple of items awaiting donation and a small tray of Komono which will be dealt with as I move downstairs – and quite a few empty boxes waiting to see if they are useful for holding stuff. However, everywhere else is TIDY!
It hasn’t been easy – paperwork was the worst. I am eternally grateful to the person (Jinny?) who linked to the lady who keeps filing in ring-binders and plastic pockets. I have ditched an entire filing cabinet for a few box files and ring-binders. There was also a point when the spare room was full of Stuff and I felt it was getting worse, not better – a massive CS run helped that.
At the risk of sounding cheesy, I feel as if I am finally living the way that I have always wanted to – or perhaps the way that I thought other people lived. I feel free and light, I know this all sounds a bit woo-woo as others have said, but it’s true!
Now to tackle the 'downstairs' categories. The kitchen will be time-consuming but not difficult I think, but there's a heck of a lot of craft stuff in the sitting-room. And don't mention the garage. The garage is an entirely separate project! Keep going, because this process really is worthwhile.

Wow Polly - you're making great progress. Given me inspiration. Have just emptied out the downstairs loo/shower. Full of toiletries, etc. Looking forward to a tidy room again!
And I'm really glad you found the book useful VJsMum. Like you I couldn't quite see the point but thought I'd give it a go and requested it through the library. Then realised they had one copy and a list of people a mile long waiting for it so thought that I should just Kindle the Kondo - SO glad I did lolLooking ahead0 -
I feel exhausted but my clothes are back in my room now. And the spare room is almost habitable again. I'm sure I will redo clothing at some point later in the year - there were times when I felt unsure. I accept it has to get worse before it gets better- and it's hard not to veer off course and start doing another cupboard before finishing what you started!
But I can see what I have, holiday stuff is not stashed in the loft so I also know what I need / don't need. Which is great!
I guess I'm feeling the pain that I expected to feel, lol.Bossymoo

Have made a start on it and am still on the theoretical bits but it's been a good way to remind myself of things that have helped in the past, so may help now. I'd forgotten about lecithin for example. Plus I know that my diet is deficient but, apart from taking a good multivitamin, wasn't sure what to do about it. Thanks again!
A bit of Kondoing today - cleared out a load of toiletries - binned, donation bag or moved to a better home. Then I gave the room a good scrub. Apart from being mortified by the amount of hidden dust in such a tiny room, it was actually a real positive. I tackled it in stages, with breaks in between, and am loving the space now. MK at her finest!Looking ahead0 -
Letter from local Hospice Shop telling me they've raised £73.54 from the goods I have donated. Not bad! 0
