:T We are Old Style, and capable of having endless fun without spending money. You go, you. I think I'm going to mention this to a pal with a hobby as a stand-up comedienne, maybe in can be translated into a stage act?

Can you imagine the joyfulness of businesses telling each other not to call Brits as we're a bunch of wind-up merchants?

I'm having a light meal and getting ready to head up to the allotment with a dolly-trolley of teamaking apparatus, cakes and choclolates. Hope it stays dry as the default is that we end up in the pub. I will regard myself as a Teashop on Tour.

Yes I agree with that GQ no money spent and 43 mins (proud of that) of pure and utter fun. I would love these cold callers to stop calling as I know people (elderly) who have fallen hook line and sinker for it :( How funny if your friend did use this on stage it may give others ideas how to wind these poeple up ;)

Have a joyful time with your tea and cakes sounds wonderful and free :D Unless it rains of course but I am sure it wont :)

:) It's looking pretty promising right now, the day has been a bit overcast but it's cleared out sunny. I have hopes that the pals can be persuaded to do some weeding in return for tea, cake and choccies but suspect they'll want to loaf around on my deckchairs and natter.

I can probably get them to pick their own strawberries, tho!

I'm perimenopausal, too. Anyone else have night terrors? I had a spate of them, mercifully stopped, which sent me throwing myself out of bed shrieking. Just a touch embarrassing when living in high-density housing with almost no sound insulation.:rotfl:

SuperSaver – I’ll google the title and see if the local library has it.

TattyCath – the GP gave me something for the night sweats which is fairly effective but doesn’t stop the sleeplessness. It takes forever to nod off and then sleep/wake all night. Do you know what’s in the spray your friend makes for you? I know a good herbalist in the nearest big town and will try anything! SilvaSava - the Starflower sounds worth a try too.

Thanks GreyQueen – It may not be getting worse but it was pretty bad to start with! I had terrible pain for ten years before finally getting the necessary surgery to replace a badly damaged shoulder joint. Thankfully it’s so much better that I only have the normal arthritic aches and pains to deal with but – on top of sleepless nights and lack of energy – it’s wearying. I’m so glad you mentioned night terrors – I thought it was just me! They’re horrible and so realistic.
MavvyMoo agree with you on reading the book. Although the forum got my interest in the subject, it wasn’t till I read the book that I really got a feeling for it. And re-reading it helped too as there were quite a few bits that didn’t sink in properly (I did use YouTube for help with the folding though as that wasn’t as obvious at first.)

Sorry for the long reply but it's such a help coming on here and after all this advice I'm going to hold my chin up, straighten my back and do my absolute best to Kondo these b***dy peri-menopause symptoms!!
    Looking ahead

:) I seriously thought I was going nuts as I would wake with a scream, always about 70 mins after going to sleep, convinced I was being attacked. I would 'see' my assailant coming at me and literally hurl myself off the bed. Thank goodness I have a low-ish bedstead.

It was happening several times a week for a while and was exhausting and embarrassing. I finally did a bit of reading on the perimenopause and when it mentioned these night terrors, it was such a relief, it's not just me.

Seems to have stopped for now, for which I'm suitably grateful. As are the neighbours, no doubt.:rotfl:

Hi Susan, I've just found it out. It's called 'Natural Highs' by Patrick Holford and Dr Hyla Cass. Increase your energy, sharpen your mind, improve your mood, relax and beat stress. With legal, natural and healthy mind-altering substances. Mine was in the library sale.

I picked out the bits I needed - I cant remember all, but I think I did post them, will have a look, but it was things like plenty of water, multi vitamin, and I think 5http (or something like that) to help me sleep. I didn't follow it to the letter but definitely felt better for the few adjustments I made. I don't think there's a 'cure', but anything that helps to get you through the day is a bonus in my book. :). In fact I think I'll read it again now.

    Greyqueen, that sounds awful.

I can't believe your neighbours would notice ... surely one of the benefits of living where you do is that a bit of screaming isn't going to attract any attention

    Congratulations :beer::T

I finally got the book yesterday, am going to read it today as am on my holidays and have time. Ready to attack in earnest when I get back. It is on my kindle so won't be cluttering anything up. My SIL has also started on the book - she is someone who really does need the advice so I hope it works for her

:) Surprisingly enough, Shoebox Towers, and other high-density housing, is the sort of place where screams, shouts, domestic violence (or escalating rows which appear on the cusp of turning violent) cause immediate action.

A few years ago, about dawn on a summer's day, the neighbourhood was woken by a woman screaming. People shot out in their jammies within seconds, inc me, ready to intervene. The perpetrator was a bloke who'd taken a working girl up onto one of our walkways and turned violent. He was chased by several of my neighbours, who sadly failed to catch him. But we tried. The woman chose to take herself off in a taxi rather than complain to the police, who attended very promptly.

We also have a very fast response from the Police to domestic incidents, which tends to make those prone to getting out of control rather sheepish when they have to police on their step within 5 mins of starting some argy-bargy.

Mind you, such is the rep attached to my block that if people call from here, we get a minimum of two units toute de suite.:rotfl:
