  • I don't think you are lazy, Blairweetch, I just think eBaying is one of those things which is a brilliant idea but actually much harder than it looks. It's time-consuming and in most cases I've found the returns aren't great once my time and energy are accounted for, let alone fees and postage. Part of this has been to do with me accepting that the cost was 'sunk' when I bought the item and so giving it away isn't such a bad thing.
Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.

All the talk of Ebay. I did sell a lot before MK but now as others have said I dont want it hanging around and I really cant be bothered with it.The money is nice but for me not worth the photos listing packing up,posting and then paying fees and ending with not a lot for it anyway:(

For me my time saved can be put in to something I enjoy doing.rather than the stress of Ebay. But thats ok saying if you can afford to do that and I know some cant :(

If I sell anything I sell on local FB selling pages and make bundles of the same size of clothes and they sell pretty well. They are picked up you get your money and they are out of your house :DStress free takes 2 mins to photo and list on there.and back to kondoing with another lot gone :rotfl::rotfl:

I have another bag to go and gave a pair of sandals to a friend who was feeling a bit down yesterday which cheered her up and they didnt really bring me that much joy (too beige and bland for me now I like colour ):) The brighter the better :D

So the poem about the old lady wearing Purple is now a bit like me :)

    Mav x

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,
And I shall spend my pension
    on brandy and summer gloves
    And satin sandals,
and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired,
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,
And run my stick along the public railings,
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens,
    And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat,
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go,
Or only bread and pickle for a week,
And hoard pens and pencils and beer mats
    and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
And pay our rent and not swear in the street,
And set a good example for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
    So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised,
    When suddenly I am old
    and start to wear purple!

That poem always makes me smile.

    Morning all
DH took 4 DVDs to work with him this morning to give away, I've got another 4 to give to my dad next time I see him, some odd socks have been kondoed this morning. And I revisited the bathroom shelves, a carrier bag of stuff from their is ready to be binned - an electric toothbrush that wasn't used once it needed replacement heads as they were just too expensive! Some used disposable razors ( why were they even put back in the box!!!) some sticking plasters and wipes that are really old and the packaging doesn't look sterile anymore. all gone.
I think I will resist my wardrobe as my mum gave me a bag of clothes, I only kept a few and passed the rest to the Cs but I keep looking at the sheer tops and thinking I'll only wear them on the beach over a swimsuit so they really don't justify being in the drawer all year for one weeks wear. I have a lovely loose shirt I can slip on over swimsuit that will give some protection from the sun if it gets too hot which makes more sense.

Going to put the cods in off the papers now so I can kondo those into the recycling, then I'm clearing the ironing basket which will just leave a little mending in there which NEEDS clearing this week!

Have a lovely day all, it WILL stop raining soon.

    Hi All

Long time lurker here - I have read all the thread over the last 6 weeks & have slowly started to try & bring order to my house.

Clothes are done - well first cull but have been trying to wear items that I thought brought joy but had not actually been worn for ages & when wearing a lot of them I realise that they too must go.

Toiletries done & like others I now try & use body lotion, perfume etc every day & not just save for "special occassions" - this is definitely bringing me joy to use lovely products.

Kitchen started - lots of cupboards rearrange to make sense - baking goods all in one cupboard & so on. Lots of cookery books culled to CS. Old holey t-towels cut up & used to clean floors, bathroom etc then binned. Nice new t-towels are now used on a regular basic not just when we have guests! Food inventory done & excess items being used up before more being bought.

Paperwork - tackling one hanging folder at a time (all was already filed but drawers far too full with old no longer required bits - receipt for TV from 1980s that we got rid of at least 15 years ago)

DH has started shed & actually binned some items!! I provided old cardboard boxes labled car bits, screws, paint, bike etc so that he could amass like things together then go through. He is amazed at what he actually has now it is in one place & in categories (house also looking better as every room seemed to have something waiting to go in the shed.

Sorry for the long post but just wanted to thank you all for your inspiration - I know this will be a long term project but hoping that whole house will have had the first round of kondoing done by Christmas so that we can start the new year as we mean to go on with new habits in place.

Congratulations GreenT. That must be a great feeling

I have just been Kondoing the airing cupboard. Dd helped and has rolled our remaining towels up and stacked them very neatly. I am going to nab some cardboard boxes when I next come across them so they can stand up for easier access, tho I had a little box for the face cloths already :)

I've pulled out the bed linen we need i.e. spare set each in a pillowcase, plus a couple of spare pillows and great-Nanas blanket all for the moment in an under bed bag on the floor of the airing cupboard. I understand why KonMarie says not to buy any storage until after Kondoing as I now have a huge space to fill!

Now to investigate what to do with the huge mound of blankets and towels
