:) Just think, some people are probably paying excess baggage charges to transport things which, if you bought them here, probably cost about £1. Like soap. Madness, isn't it?

I sometimes get the opportunity to have freebie samples handed to me as I go about the precinct. I give them a bodyswerve. It's typically some over-sugared cereal or soft drink that I wouldn't touch normally so can't see the wisdom of taking a freebie; I'm thankfully not that desperate for a few calories to keep famine away. The folk handing this stuff out as part of the product launch seem genuinely baffled by those of us who don't want a freebie.

A few years ago, when those rubber wristbands were all over the place, a pal was collecting for a charity and the wristband was part of the deal. I told her I'd give a donation on the condition that I didn't have to accept a wristband, which caused a bit of confusion (I did give a donation).

:) D'you remember that I mentioned up-thread that Nan had turned out her yarn collection as she can't knit since her stroke, and that Mum had taken the good stuff and was knitting a garment for a small person? Well, this past weekend, the finished garment was taken to Nan to admire and then handed over to the small person's parents who were thrilled. As was Nan, since the stuff which had been clutter has now been transformed into an article of beauty and utility and put into use.

I am continuing to knit through my part of the stash, combined with the pulled-out sweaters and pal's contribution. Have the yarn in the linen basket and the level is going down................

mav, I used to have a wonky-seam pair of jeans and it drove me potty, too, they're long since gone. And I finished a good book at the weekend, one of my 6 for £1 haul, and added it straight to the donation bag. It's a good feeling to release it to make money for my chosen charity and to spread the pleasure of reading it to others. When you think about it, hoarding it on a shelf when I'd probably not read it again ever/ for many years, is positively selfish, isn't it?

    Morning all
Kondoed a long overdue meal with DD1 and her partner yesterday it was lovely to just spend time with each other chat and enjoy nice food and their company.
Today I'm Kondoing the old bridesmaid dresses, the raffle blanket and a bottle of perfume down to the school, the. Going to refill Mils garden waste bin with stuff from the pile we made at the bottom of her garden.
Got to do the newspapers and mags that have built up over the weekend, kondoed some glass down to the bin yesterday as Ds1 had friends round gaming and drinking over the weekend.
Got a bag full of stuff for the Cs so will start filling another bag and hopefully make a trip to the Cs next weekend.
Have asked mil to see if the council will come and collect her stuff or if she needs to hire a skip. So should get that garage finally sorts soon.

    Morning, Konverts!

My ruthless streak has revived overnight, so the books are going through another kondo today! :j

Apart fro 13 novels 'to read', the rest are non-fiction that I refer to, for my 4 hobbies. After today's onslaught, at some point, I shall check through them, to weed out the ones that only have odd items in, which I shall scan, file, before sending them on their way. :)

Thanks, mav and GQ, for reminding me about a pair of jeans that I have, with a stitched 'crease' that twists and annoys me! They are good enough to wear for errands and appointments. but I've got 2 better pairs, so I'm demoting that pair to 'housework'. They will make me feel less 'slobby' in the house and release a dying, baggy pair into the wild! :rotfl:

tibawo - your hanging-basket puddle probably is due to the climate. Recently, we have had humid warm days, when moisture in the soil evaporates into the air. The cold nights cause this air-bourne moisture to condense (especially on cold metal fixtures, chains etc), which then drip. It also forms dew on lawns. ;)

OK, I'm going to print off some letters for the post, wash the pots, and put on a load of laundry. Then, the books are in for another bit of 'ruthless'! (I actually washed down some 'revealed' paintwork yesterday - 10 minutes, and it looks so joyful!

  • Came away on holiday and transferred the socks knickers and bras from suitcase into a drawer.
Looked at it in the morning and had to fold it all neatly as it was just not good enough
    Even kondoing on holiday :)

All this mornings planned tasks have been completed, so hope is lighter of quite a few things. Taking a book into work with me that I've read and am returning to the reading circle and a carrier bag full of egg boxes that the caption class want for crafting.
    Have a good afternoon all.

Best laid plans... etc! Well, it might have helped if I had planned!

I started on printing the stuff for posting, before the chores, sadly. Ran out of ink, took ages to find the ink for refilling! Then the printer decided to eat envelopes. Found some others and it behaved itself!

Now, if I had planned, I would have a finished wash cycle, the pots washed and be on my way to the PO!

Never mind, I'll put the laundry on, go to the PO, and wash-up when I get back, before starting the books. :D Silly me! :rotfl:

Three pieces of paper arrived in the post today and unfortunately have to keep all 3 for accounts/tax purposes. Good job loads of paper left the house yesterday via recycling bin or shredder.

Another membership magazine has been read and am 1/4 of the way through a third. Only 6 more to go - plan for them all to be read in the next 2 weeks.

Plastic pot kept a couple of weeks ago now has a useful job keeping pens/stapler/sellotape etc tidy in desk drawer.

Last 4 files still to be done from filing cabinet and will have a go at doing one of those today.

I have a big bag of recycling to take out when I get back from work. I also have a "big blue box" bag of stuff accumulating for the tip. I do love those bags - they make transporting stuff from my 4th floor abode to the car much easier!
Project bedroom is going well, slowly but well. I have removed two carrier bags of clothes that made it through the first cull. I have been quite strict about allowing stuff back in - so far clothes and make-up/toiletries have been allowed in. There shouldn't really be much else to come back in. It's frightening how much I removed that really had no place in there. Just got to decide what I need from the remnants (and where it will live!) and what can be let go of.

Major (mental) lightening here - have just finalised the PTFA accounts for the last year, ready to hand over to the new treasurer. Have been involved in the PTFA for 6 years, almost 5 of them as treasurer - sooo glad to get rid of it to someone - and be free of the petty playground politics!:D:T

I wish DH could hand over Church accounts to someone else but nobody wants the job. I've told him we are moving once he retires-it's probably the only way he'll get out of doing them.
