Hi all,
Lurker here.
Wondered how any of you had dealt with young childrens belongings on your journeys? Including toys?
My kiddies are not always keen to let stuff go...
Thanks!
Hi BossyMy two smallies aren't keen on letting stuff go, either. Some of it I have dealt with stealthily but I have decided that an open approach is better - if some tat which they love is that important to them then fair enough. I found that to be the case with books - they got rid of ones which I think are fantastic - and kept ones which I hate - but it's their books, not mine, so I decided that they got to choose. And the same for clothes. (And that's as far as I've got with their things! - and the teenagers' things remain (and will remain) untouched by me!) x
I wish DH could hand over Church accounts to someone else but nobody wants the job. I've told him we are moving once he retires-it's probably the only way he'll get out of doing them.
I only ended up doing a second stint as Treasurer because no-one else wanted it - and then stayed on for another year as we were in danger of losing the PTA at last year's AGM - it really was a case of no-one standing up, so I agreed to babysit the role for a couple of months until the new intake to ensure that the PTA could continue to run - however, babysitting the role lasted a full year - but I made it clear in January that I wouldn't do it again, so they managed to find someone, thankfully.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

Dishwasher tablets ( no dishwasher ). Concentrated squash ( don't drink it ) plus other stuff and lots of advertising leaflets all of which I need to kondo oh well
You could give them to a foodbank.
That's an excellent idea , I have already kondoed the dog food to the neighbours
Minimal kondoing here as been away for the weekend and then at work , I've concentrated my efforts on the garden this evening , weeding and watering , the garden is looking nice though :T0 -
Major (mental) lightening here - have just finalised the PTFA accounts for the last year, ready to hand over to the new treasurer. Have been involved in the PTFA for 6 years, almost 5 of them as treasurer - sooo glad to get rid of it to someone - and be free of the petty playground politics!:D:T
I have just got back from an AGM of a branch of a national charity which I have been involved with for over 20 years. The last 10 it appears I have been treasurer and guess what...........I am treasurer again! Doesnt take up a lot of my time. I enjoy doing it. Its my way of scratching the volunteer/ giving service itch and now all the paperwork is digital so no boxes of the stuff everywhere like it use to be. So I wont be kondoing this part of my life.
Only stuff kondoed today is paper that has gone out for recycling - over and above what is usual. Oh and small egg whisk has gone into metal recycling - it had gone rusty on end and I have 2 others:eek: Hard to do sustained kondoing in the working week I find. I have however eyed up some bits for the CS bag:)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Very true Igamogam about sustaining momentum with this during the work week. I think because it involves mental energy as well as the physical side. By the end of the day we've made choice after choice, even if it's simple things like choosing which email to answer or what to have for lunch - it all adds up. So any kind of Kondoing is good, however limited in scope. On which note, I've Kondoed my purse and put a large handful of coppers into the savings tin ...Looking ahead0

Looked at it in the morning and had to fold it all neatly as it was just not good enough
Even kondoing on holiday
LOL and me,:D. I put my tops and bottoms in the same draw, and they are just piled in  I feel most discombobulated. This hotel room has so many drawers it is ridiculous. I am only here until Friday - but I still may have to change it.oceanspirit wrote: »
Another membership magazine has been read and am 1/4 of the way through a third. Only 6 more to go - plan for them all to be read in the next 2 weeks.
groan, only 6. I probably have at least twice that. I meant to put a few in for my plane journeys but forgot. They do arrive so relentlessly don't they?
After working till 10, then going for dinner after a few glasses of wine, I wish I could Kondo this headache :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all
Hope everyone is well, some brilliant kondoing going on.
Burned a couple of old bank cards yesterday I'd cut them up but wanted to make disposing secure. I used 2 boxes of matches in the process of making my little pyre at the bottom of the garden. Ashes are now in the compost bin.
Dealt with half the mags and newspapers need to kondo the table today- I'm sure it's under there somewhere!
Small amount of ironing and some folding and rolling to do and put away.
I NEED to kondo the kitchen, I made a start on kitchen items but there are lots in there I really don't need want or use.SPC~12 ot 124

Morning konverts
The wardrobe is finishedMore items kondo'd while changing all the coat hangers from grotty to posh wooden ones
Looks like a shop now :rotfl:Pleased that I have finished and I have no spare hangers which is great as I cant buy any more clothes now unless its a replacement.Or I will have to have an odd plastic one and my OCD wont stand that for long
I am still enjoying my less cluttered streamlined home which is so easy to clean and everything is put away as I go now.Makes so much difference I would highly recommend it :rotfl::rotfl:To those of you who are lurking and are not on the kondo bandwagon yet go for it. I have not missed one thing yet and doubt if I ever will.
Been for a run today out in the woods came home and there was the most beautiful Green Woodpecker on my fenceCouldnt believe how big he/she was and bright Green with just a flash of Red really stunning bird
I felt so lucky I had seen it so close up as I had the time to stand and stare
Before KM I most likely wouldnt have seen it as I would have had my head down rushing trying to catch up with what ever I had to do that day
Some great kondoing and thoughts coming in on everyones posts I really do enjoy reading them so keep posting everyone please as it really helps me and others :T

Kondo'd the pile of weekend newspapers etc into the recycle bin. DH is 'updating' my utility room so quite a bit of kondoing done there with old cleaning bits either passed on or passed out! Will do some more when the new cupboards go in. 'cos I'll be able to put my laundry baskets and buckets away out of sight instead of being on display! We've also been very good kondoing the strawberries over the last few days
I've promised DGD and a friend to do a small bit of sewing for them so I'll take the opportunity to have a sort out there too.
I know I'm not following MK properly but you all have given me the motivation to take a good look at all the stuff we've accumulated and pass on or let go.

I'm all for being a minimalist but if i chucked everything in my house that didnt 'bring me joy' i'd have an empty house. Still like to read the thread though.
As for folding ones knickers.....what the heck? Whats simpler than chucking 8 pair of pants in a drawer? Have i missed something? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
