Morning Kondoites
I wonder what lessons Marie has for us today ? Lets hope they are joyful whatever they maybe:)
What am I up to I am going back to clothes as like my twin iQueen :DI am not happy with the amount thats left and have a nagging doubt in me that this is holding me back I am sure not everything sparks joy:(
So back to basics for me today:)
Then the gym is calling as I find mentally this helps me more than any kind of pill or tablet on the market.:D Then will go for a run in the woods which are stunning and just look for the beauty in everything in there including the dogs that trip you up :rotfl:
Then home for a cup of tea while watching the Starlings taking over the bird feeder all 18 of them :eek:Feeding their babies and generally causing havoc but are such amazing birds. Costing me a fortune as they eat so much but I dont care
Then will tackle clothes again until I feel that joy will then bag up and put in the boot of my car to take to the old man on the bootsale
Notice not one mention of cleaning in my day as it really does not need anytime spent on it as I do it as I go and it takes no time up at all.
So thats me really
Have the best day you can have everyone and remember the poem and try to have one or two moments of just that

mrssnowy hugs, sending good wishes your way.
Am determined to do blankets, bedding and towels today as it didn't get done yesterday, and want to get all the bin bags out of the house, they are mounting up! Then paid work to tackle before taking my daughter to the cinema. Doesn't sound too bad:)0 -
Just caught up with the thread after our Sun £9.50 weekend away. lovely spending time playing cards, swimming and just being together. Now back to the washing! Quite annoyed that my CTC/WTC has been KD by about £40 a week . Not sure why so will have to dig out if I have paperwork which because of a mass shred should not take so long!
It seems that whilst away there has been some sad news for people on the thread, hugs go out to them and to those who are busy sifting and making headway with their KD , I am so jealous.
I have, and always will be, a lists person so am just noting down everything I would like to do this half term, ironically it seems more realistic than the ones I normally do? Maybe KD has made me realise that things take time and not to try and do everything at once?
Going to put a few bits on ebay and then get going!Don’t put it down - put it away!

Lessons learned on my first day of my journey
* This is going to take a LONG time!
* It is going to get worse before it gets better (stuff that is not clothes is just getting moved around the room and it all looks worse than before)
* I knew I was allergic to dust so this is going to be harder than I thought, I was wheazing quite bad last night and this morning my head is pounding and cant stop sneezing
* It took me 8 HOURS just to sort my clothes and I still dont feel finished and I ache all over.
* with ref to the above I feel guilty using a day off work to do this rather than take the kids out somewhere (I am off today and tomorrow as well and really want to carry on but will take the kids out somewhere with the dog as the weather is nice but in the back of my mind I want to carry on with this)
* It is tempting to carry on with the rest of the room rather than follow the KM way and do things by category - has anyone done a room at a time?
* From just one room I have 4 big black bags of clothes (inc coats), 2 bags of rubbish and a box for CS - will prob be more if I carry on with the room
* It makes me scared to carry on
* It does feel better having a wardrobe not overflowing
* Previous clothes sorting were useless as I kept things 'just in case' and have still never worn them, this time I have been very ruthless - but have also found tops I had forgotten about. I only used about 25% of my wardrobe it seems
* I have no idea why I was keeping the kids old school uniform (I had about 30 white shirts!!
* Dont let your teenage daughter in the room as she was taking stuff out of my discard pile for herself haha (does that mean I was trendy - no she likes vintage)
* My room is/was being strangled, I never open the curtains or windows, just doing both yesterday it felt better
* I need to start loving my house again but I am already worried about keeping it up
Sorry for the long list, I am sure most of you have felt the same as most of the above I just needed to get it out of my head.MFW 16 No 33

(((HUGS))) mrssnowy, Sorry the poem brought back sad memories when you have so much to cope with at the moment, but it's good if it enabled you to let out some of your grief xx
I Kondoed a load of paperwork a few days ago and must have inspired OH as he did a load of his own on Saturday! I never thought I'd see it happen!
I'd like to ask you all what you think I should do with some Open University course books. Some are from a module I completed, (English), the others are from a History module which I started but then had to stop studying for good as I had a relapse of my M.E. and was also prescribed some beta blockers which seemed to make it difficult to put an essay together - it was like trying to think through concrete :wall:
They are spiral-bound (to make it easier for painful wrists), and each book is divided into two parts (they would be too thick for the binding otherwise iyswim).
I loved the English module, and although there's not really any point in keeping the books from it, they aren't really suitable for a charity shop because of the format (plus there's a lot of highlighting on the pages), and I can't imagine anyone buying them, but it seems awful to put them in the recycling! Do they spark joy? Yes, to an extent, but being realistic I probably won't read them again.
The History course books are trickier still - I enjoyed the first part of the module and was upset and angry when I had to give up studying, but they are so interesting!
I suppose the best thing would be to have another look through them all before I try to decide.0 -
Ivy leaf ou books can be downloaded as PDF if you want to keep a copy. I've just finished my degree and downloaded all my books and kept no physical copies. I would advice trying eBay for selling themHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

I made a start on some sentimental decluttering today. When OH and I first got together, I started putting photo albums together. However 10 years down the line, these live in drawers and never see the light of day.
I've just gone through the oldest one taking all the photos out. I've culled these, questioning why I ever put some of them into the album on the first placeIt would appear that I have been subconsciously Kondoing for a while, as many of the people in those photos are no longer a part of my life. A lot of those photos went straight into the bin. I have organised the photos I want to keep into envelopes which are labelled with the date and event. These pre-date digital cameras so I don't currently have digital copies.
The remaining albums are all from the digital age, so I know that I have electronic copies. These too need to be culled, organised and then backed up. The physical prints will also need to be culled as there's no point keeping duplicates just for them to sit in a box.
It feels like a rainy day job, so I'm struggling to find the motivation to keep going today if I'm honest. At least now I have some form of system in place the rest should be a bit easier when I come back to finish the job. It can all live out of sight in a drawer until I'm ready to resume.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Dodgy hugs to all that need them, especially mrssnowy :grouphug:norfolkdream wrote: »* It is tempting to carry on with the rest of the room rather than follow the KM way and do things by category - has anyone done a room at a time?
I went by room but I was always good at keeping like things together. So there weren't any clothes that weren't in the bedroom, all cooking things were in the kitchen, etc.
I think the only two areas of miscellaneous stuff were the typical stashing places - airing cupboard and under the stairs. And those I think are better to sort in one go rather than only pull out per category anyway.
Now under the stairs is just where things that are waiting to leave the house live.0 -

I have stuff in my bedroom that I dont really have anywhere else to keep them, luckily I cannot get things up into my loft as who knows how bad it would be up there as its huge!
Sounds really odd but I used to worry if something happened to me I would be so embarrased about on of my sisters having to come and sort my crappy house out. This is one of the reasons I am doing this along with wanting to invite friends over and start having a social life (also the kids keep pestering me for sleepovers but I am too embarrased about the state of the house)
I have let the house get into this state for far too long and just ignored it, you dont really see what is right in front of you and as my ever so clever DD says, if there is clutter then you dont mind adding more to it but if it is all clear you are more likely to put something away there and then. Well thats the plan anyway.MFW 16 No 33

No pictures this time but finished sorting out my "paperwork".
Figured most of the old bank statements can go for shredding, while other letters the bank have sent me also went.
Everything is now in plastic folders in a box file.
