What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Mav and iQueen, i love this poem and today of all days brought it home to me. I sometimes help one of my neighbours who is 88y.o, taking her shopping etc. I went to pick her up today and she asked me to take her to a favourite beauty spot instead. She wanted to remember her son who died suddenly 2 years ago. As we drove there she told me about the lovely times they had walking in the area and when we got out of the car she pointed out all the beauty, the colour of the new leaves, the bluebells etc. I think she is amazing, despite her deep sorrow she STILL sees the loveliness and is grateful that she can savour it. Needless to say there were a few tears (has everyone had an emotional day?) but do you know what? We both saw the beauty and it sparked joy.

Perhaps i have digressed from Kondoing but the more joy we can have, even with simple things and even in difficult circumstances, the stronger we'll all be.:A

I don't think you have digressed from Kondoing - becoming more aware of the simple beauty in Life is part of the learning curve. It reminds us that we are not machines, but sentient human beings.

This is what Life should be about. :)

I was with my father as he was dying several years ago and he quoted poetry to me,I never told anyone and What is this life was one of them.

Tomorrow may be better, thank you all for being there.

I hope it helps you to know that a bunch of virtual friends on here are genuinely empathising with you, at such an overwhelming time. Stay strong, Mrs Snowy. (((hugs)))

Sending love and hugs to all those who need it right now. I hope you find your paths through the dark on steady feet and back into the light when the time is right.

Had quite a cathartic weekend myself getting rid of a huge pile of paperwork that relates to an event which has given me much stress over the last year. I also kondo'ed a lot of old emails. Still plenty to go but I feel like it's helping that the digital clutter is going too.

MrsSnowy words fail me but please be strong and take a little bit of that poem for yourself as you need time to build up that strength.

We can all learn something from your lovely and wise neighbour and how lovely for you to do that for her.
Sometimes I think in this process Marie sends us off in a different direction when she does you need to listen to your inner voice and you can hear 'It doesnt matter about Kondoing today this is far more inportant'

    :grouphug: Mrs Snowy :(.

Just relocated to Spain and to cut a long story short I have a LOT of summer clothes, some already Kondo'd but a full suitcase to go through. I woke up in the night thinking of one dress that's in the case. "That doesn't bring me joy" I thought, rolled over and went back to sleep :D.

    Morning all

Mrs Snowy hugs sweetie, be kind to yourself, sometimes life is just too much but you will find a way through, I promise you will.

Yesterday I did all the ironing and then kondoed a load of spare, cheap and wrong size hangers.

Out at cricket for most of the day, it will be a long day. I will take governor stuff, magazines and library books in the car so that I spend the 'down' time doing something which will hopefully result in stuff leaving the house at the end of it.

Hugs mrsSnowy, I'm so sorry life has been so unkind to you. Thinking of you and yours and sending virtual hugs and supporting vibes.

Got to nip down post office soon to get a parcel sent off then going to do a quick bit of flying and hopefully nip into attic and see what I can kondo for up there.
