Am about to start my clothes - 2 wardrobes, a chest of drawers and the piles of clothes next to my bed (clean laundry not put away, kids clothes grown out of)
My question is, it seems so big a job and I will put it all out on my bed, but what if I dont finish, I will have nowhere to sleep haha.
I know I just need to start but it just seems such a mountain to climb, did anyone feel overwhelmed to start in the first place?
Thank you for the replies.
Well the journey has begun.
I am having a 'hopefully' halfway break. I have totally emptied one wardrobe and the chest of drawers and sorted the clean laundry (surprisingly I have got rid of a top from the this pile even tho I have worn it recently, it didnt spark joy.) Finding clothes I have forgotten I had, and others wondering why I still had them. I have cleared out my wardrobe before and have been useless at it obvioulsy as this time I look at something and think why have I still got this??
2 full black bags of clothes so far, wasnt worth putting any aside to sell, I lived in the 90s for a long time it seems!!
So the bag of clothes are definite 'get rid of', the piles on the bed are ones to do a second sort out.
What I have figured out today is that we walk around not really seeing what is around us properly. Until I properly looked at my room today I could not believe how much 'stuff' is clogging up my room. You can see why I am single lol.
My drawers are not very deep so not sure about the folding way of Kondo? I may have to fold them flat but I can see the reason to fold them upright, so you can see them all. I'm not sure what to do here.
Anyway better get the kids tea, cant disown them completely.MFW 16 No 33

Have made good progress today. I've cleared most of the portable stuff out of the spare room. Six bags for the CS but the MK part for me was with two particular categories. I unpacked my summer stuff and decided about a third of it didn't make me feel good so it went to the donations and I dug out a tea service someone had given me from when her mother died. She hadn't wanted to donate it but preferred to give it as a gift. Two years on, however lovely the gesture (and the tea service) I have never used it and likely never will so I'm donating it. Whatever her original intention it is in my home now and all it's doing is taking up useful space. so out it goes ... ...Looking ahead0

Norfolkdream - my son's drawers are quite shallow so I've folded the bottom half twice before folding them together to make them smaller if that makes sense.NST #10 Steps 7K 2/30 10K 2/12 5 a day 3/30 NSD 0/20

Mavvy what a lovely thing you did for that man...so sad:(. Lovely poem - so true:)
Norfolk dream my son's drawers were very shallow so I rolled his clothes. Not that it makes any difference as he just chucks everything in although he does roll it first:(
My lesson learnt for today is once you have scanned the books for we buy books send them off straightaway. I scanned some a while ago and they have been taken out of my basket but now I have rescanned them some aren't accepted any more:(. I am struggling to find boxes to post them in. I have a HUGE pile for the CS as now they have come off the shelves they aren't going back:rotfl:saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

Bun I would advise the same with amazon trade in, the values can go up and down by massive amounts from one day to the next, if you like what you see commit straightaway!0

Found this series of Kondo vids on FB Kondo (UK) to get newbies started. Haven't watched them yet, but they look helpful.
