Been over at my Nan's with my parents, visiting and doing stuff. Nan instructed me to empty out a large drawer in her bedroom and remove the knitting yarn. She is 92 and can no longer knit, but knows that Mum and I both knit (I had mine with me, as it happened).
The yarn has been triaged into donations (baby yarn), for knitting into bruv's next sweater, for making a child's garment to donate, for adding into the charity blanket I'm in progress of knitting. In fact, she was able to see me start a fresh section of that whilst I was with her, incorporating one of the colours from her stash.
Auntie who lives nearby has kondo'd two items for me to take and donate via my gift-aid registered chairity, and kid bruv has turfed out a bag of books, to do likewise. I shall be well-laden on my return journey.:rotfl:
Have also chosen three smaller baking trays from Mum's collection of unwanteds, so she has the large one which doesn't fit my oven and I have several which suit my various needs the better.
We're all at it, I tell you, all at it. Plus I have cleaned my late Grandad's headstone, and stood in the village churchyard surrounded by dead rellies. It was surprisingly pleasant on a sunny May afternoon. Then we stopped at a farmhouse which was in the family about a hundred years ago; I have to say the new owners haven't kept it up, there was two gables, a fireplace, and a lot of fresh air in between. My grandad-with-two-greats is probably revolving in his grave at 45 rpm.............:pEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I have already been thinking about Christmas and the amount of presents we will get. OH has a big family and they love presents. It sounds ungrateful but it usually takes me all year to use all the toiletries.
We are on books now. Tricky because OH has lots of reference books that he won't part with even though he never looks at them.
And I still haven't decided what to do with my famous five books!0 -
Right. I decided that I was going to move the shower screen and mirror. The are now in the room of doom, which I know is not getting rid but my bedroom already looks better.
OH will also be tripping over some of his tools. I have moved them into his path to the huge garage where they live. Hopefully he may put them away. He moans and says 'stop nagging' if he is asked to put his stuff away. He is worse than a teenager.De cluttering Konvert.Getting there

Been kondoing weeds by the bucket full literally , many many buckets , luckily we have a garden waste recycling bin . The garden does look better , I have 6 strawberry plants , 3 of which I have neglected and they have blown over at some point and dried out , they look dead but I've watered them and I'm hoping they might resurrect
The birds now are having a great time on the freshly dug soil ,picking up worms and grubs for their youngsters . I love the birds in the garden , I can sit for ages watching them , although so can the cat :rotfl:
Not done much in the house other than finishing the cupboard where all the paper / statements are kept . I have 2 black bags full of shredded paper to recycle. I still need to sort the saved letters etc into alphabetical order but it can wait .
Off for a cuppa x0 -

Afternoon all
Welcome to the new konverts
Well done to everyone for their achievements
Thought of everyone on here had dropped a couple of bags of mils clothes that had been stored here since I did her wardrobes a couple of weeks ago. Anyway passed one of the other CSs and in the window was a really old looking yellowed cardboard box with a pretty China tea service in covered in red roses for £25 complete. I wondered if it had been kondoed and hope it brings joy to whoever buys it. It made me smile as I passed by because it looked so delicate and pretty but I do not need a tea service so it stayed in the shop for someone else. Al, I brought was needed food, I even resisted buying wool, but went in to admire. I need to use up more stash before I can buy any more - I don't need any as I have lots.SPC~12 ot 124

To The new Kondoites I am going to post this again for the poster who has a beauitful mirror still in the box after 5 years :(and others where we are seeing the same sort of post
"If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
Please put them up now even if you need to decorate or any other reason you can find.
You may find it brings you joy and maybe even inspire you:) on your journey.
As N*ke says 'just do it'
Same as if you have anything on show or hanging on the wall that does not bring you joy.S*d the catogories get it down and gone now
Sorry if I sound harsh I dont mean to be.But I really see this as a barrier .

It's a good job for him that he died in 1911, he would have hated to see how far one of the family farmsteads has fallen. That's a listed building, I'll have you know.
Grade 2 listed, I mean - it's also listing; the gables are going every which way like a can-can dancer on speed. It wasn't his grave I was possicking near, his side are in another churchyard, all of 1.5 miles away.Mum's people are from 200 miles away via a sojuorn in Lunnon so I'm only semi-inbred; you can't hurl a brick in that part of the region without hitting someone I share DNA with. Not that I'd recommend hurling bricks at my extended family, as some of them would hurl them back with extreme prejudice.:rotfl:

Made me smile GQ, my mum reckons most people are related in the area I come from (or interbred) can't remember her exact wording now;). But shows how many of us there are. Last year I had to "go home" to attend my granny's funeral and mum said had I noticed the undertakers van the flowers had come to church in had her maiden name on the side. (Yes we were even distantly related to the undertaker!) there were 2 variations of the family name in the area one with L and the other LL apparently we were the better version with the LL:rotfl: can't say I noticed any difference myself or have ever thought I was in any way superior to anyoneSPC~12 ot 124

I've just been reading everyone's thoughts about Christmas, Birthday, etc presents.
Just FWIW, this is my experience. For the last few years I've had an Amazon wishlist up, and yes, people have been selecting items from it. But, they've also been "topping up" with Stuff - often quite small Stuff, but Stuff nevertheless. Some of it I've been hard-hearted enough to recycle as gifts to other people, and one or two things have been ebay'ed, but it feels bad and ungrateful which isn't what the givers really wanted (I hope!).
Also, one of my family members gives me edibles: I have six unopened jars of marmalade in the cupboard, because I swore off the stuff until I reach and maintain my desired weight. (I love marmaladeall sorts of ways, including marmalade yogurt num-num-num, but it hardly counts as a slimming food
.)
And what does a person who really only likes dark chocolate do with all the white choc she gets given? (Answer: give it unopened to the CS.)
Still, it's very nice of them to think of me.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️
